The Terrible Catsafterme

Brad's Musings and Meanderings

"Don't touch me, I'm sterile." - Ed Norton, "The Honeymooners"

I was pretty darn thrilled to have met one of the Monkees when I first saw Mickey Dolenz in 2008. Then when I got the chance to meet Davy Jones in 2009, I was even happier. The pattern has continued into 2010 when I got the chance to meet a third member of the iconic band (and TV Show) The Monkees. Peter Tork was appearing at the Hollywood Show on October 9, 2010 – alongside my first Monkee man Mickey Dolenz. So now I can say that I have met more than half the Monkees. And naturally, I’m hoping that my pattern will continue and I might get a crack at Michael Nesmith this year.

Monkee prices had apparently gone up considerable since I first met Mickey. Both Mickey and Peter were charging the exorbitant amount of $30 for a signature and $25 for a photo with them. I ignored Mickey since I already had both from him, and made an offer to the handler to get the combo for $50. Not a huge savings, but it was something.

The photo I brought with me was the one that I had had Mickey sign orginally. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the word that Davy Jones was going to be at the show where I met him (and I must add, was charging only $10 to sign your item, and nothing for a photo with him), so I didn’t get to add his signature to the group shot unfortunately.

Bonus shot from David, with both Monkees in the picture

I’m hoping one day to get them all on this photo. Perhaps I’m just a Daydream Believer.

Celebs of the Fall 2010 Hollywood Show will continue

  1. You’ll make it happen. I have confidence in you.

  2. Mike is the hardest one to get. He very rarely embraces his Monkee roots.

  3. OK, now I’m going to comment. I have been reading portions of your site all day because I grew up in Beavercreek, went to Fairbrook, etc. around the same time. On June 24 I plan on seeing the Monkees (Micky, Peter, Davy) in Columbus.

I am three years younger than you, but you might remember me as the purple kid.
