Brad's Musings and Meanderings

"I was thinkin' of growing a moustache, but they don't let you wear 'em at Annapolis." - Eddie Haskell, "Leave It to Beaver"

Six years after I first began my quest at encountering the Kryptonian villains of Superman and Superman II, I picked up my second one at the Hollywood Show on October 8, 2011. I had started the journey by getting a photograph with Jack O’Holloran, who had played the idiot character Non in films. The second encounter came from the infinitely more attractive Sarah Douglas, who was the sleek and sexy, but cruel and deadly Ursa. As you know, I rarely balk at any sort of Super-Encounter.

Unlike the Non encounter (not to be confused with a ‘non-encounter’), this time I didn’t actually own a signed photo, so I had to shell out a bit to get this one. Sarah wasn’t quite as generous as Non, but she was still much nicer than both the character Ursa and the handler that she was using. In fact, she and the handler got in a near-argument about how much she ‘needed’ to charge. I of course balked at paying the full $40 for the combo autograph and photo op. She agreed with me, but the handler didn’t. I offered exactly $10 less.

Eventually Ursa and I got our way and ran off to be photographed together. I’m not sure if the handler had a fresh batch of Kryptonite under the table or what, but in the end victory ended up on the side of evil… or good… or whatever we were.

Celebrity encounters of the Fall 2011 Hollywood Show will continue
