"What in the wide, wide world of sports is going on here?" - Taggart, "Blazing Saddles"

gussIf you saw him in The Hottie & the Nottie, or the episodes of Criminal Minds or It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, you’d probably want to pick him up and hold him and tell him that life will be okay young man. But of course if you were to watch the re-tooled 2009 version of Friday the 13th, you might have a little bit of a different opinion, knowing that this character Jason Voorhees would grow up to slaughter and mutilate dozens upon dozens of teenage campers, innocent bystanders, and Manhattan residents.

At the Days of the Dead convention on June 28, 2014, I got the chance to add yet another actor into my repertoire of guys who portrayed psycho killer Jason across twelve incarnations of the Friday the 13th film series. Following in the footsteps of Ari Lehman, Caleb Guss was actually the fourth child actor to portray the ‘young Jason’ in films of the series. If you’re keeping track, I still haven’t met Timothy Burr Mirkovich (Jason Takes Manhattan) nor Spencer Stump (Freddy vs. Jason).

Caleb Guss was a very pleasant young man with no pretense about him whatsoever. He charged a meager $20 for an nice autographed photo and posed for pictures with both Carolyn and me for free. Although he wasn’t a full-grown killer Jason, he made a nice little enhancement to my long line of Jason actor encounters.
