I wasn’t a huge fan of Charlie’s Angels, so I don’t really recall when Tanya Roberts took over the third angel slot from Shelley Hack during the fifth and final season of the show. And not being a huge James Bond fan, I haven’t yet seen A View To a Kill in which Tanya Roberts portrayed Bond girl Stacey Sutton. But I do certainly recall that she was one of the biggest sex symbols of the 80’s (and corresponding Playboy cover pictorial) and my boyhood memories recall that great topless scene in HBO staple The Beastmaster. That and Kodo and Podo.
From the late 80’s to the late 90’s, Tanya virtually disappeared from anything (anything good anyways) but made a triumphal return to prime time when she was cast as Donna’s mother Midge Pinciotti on That 70’s Show for several years. She left during the series’ run when her husband became ill.
I had the chance to meet Tanya Roberts at the Hollywood Show in Burbank on July 18, 2009. She looked just as she had during the run of That 70’s Show, and was friendly enough if not overly talkative. I picked up the signed photo from The Beastmaster seen above and had her pose for a nice photo with me.

Beastmaster was the best movie ever. My dad and I must have watched it a hundred times on HBO and Showtime. Those bat-like things that eat everything except your bones still freak me out.

I liked Tanya in Beastmaster. In everything else she’s done, including Angels, she just looked cheap and thrashy
