richie2Richie Scarlet is not a Big 7 member, but he plays one on stage. He had worked with former KISS member Ace Frehley in the first incarnations of his solo band and then returned to be a prominent player on this third solo studio album Trouble Walkin’. This album was cool in that it was technically as much of the original KISS as KISS themselves then were, as it also featured drummer Peter Criss as a guest performer on a few tracks.

Richie’s contribution was that of the second guitar player, background vocals, co-composer of three tracks, and lead vocals on the song 2 Young 2 Die. So obviously his biggest claim to fame was his stint with Ace, but he also played in the band Mountain and played guitar for former Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach on his solo tour.

So, sure, I was interested to meet him for his minor role in Big 7 history when he made an appearance at the Chiller Theatre Show in Parsippany, New Jersey, on April 18, 2009. It was interesting to see his price list in which he and his wife/girlfriend had penciled in an additional price for signing Ace Frehley items – which of course was what I wanted. So I shelled out the $10 for him to sign my CD cover, on which he also added “Ace Rules”. But when his partner suggested I pay an additional $5 to get a picture with him, I strongly protested. He backed down and kindly stepped in to allow a friendly photo with him as seen at the top of the posting. ACK!
