I’ve always loved looking at old postcards. The pastel-like painted colors and the fountain-tip pen scrawl across the flip side – if the card happened to be filled out – both ring incredibly nostalgic. It’s also cool to think about someone’s vacation and what was going on in their lives nearly 70 years ago. These paticlular cards that I am going to share are even more precious to my family and me because they were written from my Grandpa to my Grandma before they were married.
Their wedding was on December 11, 1937 and these cards were from the Summer prior when my Grandpa took a Summer trip to Colorado. (The photo – as somber as it is – is from Fall 1958). This first one in the series was written from Kansas where he apparently stopped along the way. The second, written in Denver, announces that he will be moving on to Boulder.
