tiny1.jpgTiny is one of the most incredible and unique cats I’ve ever had the pleasure to own. She was born on Sept. 9, 2005 and was named Anakin Beard by her foster parents. This adorable kitten came into my life when I was shopping for kittens to give to Ashleigh for Christmas. She was in a tiny cage with her two siblings at the SICSA animal shelter. Although she was soundly sleeping, I asked if I could remove her from the cage. Immediately, she passed my first criteria of a perfect cat by beginning to purr.

Next, I set her atop an eye-level cat tower to look her over and see how she responded to me. She quietly stared at me and then took her paw and gently removed my glasses from my face. That did it – I had to have her!

At first I didn’t think I’d be able to take her home with me because SICSA prefers to adopt to ‘families’ for fear that I might take her home and the other members of my family would not like her or want a different cat. I smooth talked them into it and then immediately took her over to my Mom’s house to hide her out until it was time to suprise Ashleigh with her on Christmas Eve.

tiny31.jpgDespite her continuous mewing from the bathroom, we were able to conceal her amid some extremely loud Christmas music playing from two rooms in our house. Just when Ashleigh appeared to be sulking after not getting the kitten she requested, I came up behind her and told her she forgot one of her gifts, and presented her with the new kitten.

We re-named her Clementine (so that she could easily slide into our ABC motif), but we call her Tiny for short. We soon found out that Tiny was incorrigible. It is nearly impossible to keep her off of the bar and tables despite repeated warnings, she cries continually if locked in a room for any length of time, she gets into every little drawer or crevice no matter how small the opening, she kicks her litter out of her box about six feet, she picks fights with everyone in the household – especially Baby, she eats Baby’s food, and she refuses to be held. When it was time to go to the vet, she became so nervous that she became physically sick.

But despite all of these shortcomings, Tiny is the sweetest, most adorable kitten I have ever known. She loves to be pet, especially on the face and tummy. She is constantly concerned about my well-being and will try to ‘rescue’ me from going into the shower by grabbing onto my leg as I enter. She will immediately come to console me if I ‘fake-cry.’ Every morning, Tiny is waiting quietly nearby to greet me by licking my face when I wake up. She is not a finicky eater nor does she ever beg for food. On the rare occasions I find it possible to actually yell at this sweet creature, she will slink off to a nearby room and sulk. This is the only time she will ever be in a different room than one of us.

I look forward to having many years with this special and beloved little kitten and am extremely pleased with my choice of cats.
