"I also need some money for a treat, said the blonde." - Christi Adkins

Although she tried out for the role of Princess Leia, Cindy Williams’ fate was cast to not be known for Star Wars, but rather as Shirley Feeney in the popular sitcom Laverne & Shirley. This show was of course a spin-off from the classic Happy Days, in which she played the same role alongside Penny Marshall’s Laverne. I’d have to say that my interest in Cindy Williams however was her role in one of my favorite films American Graffiti. Even if she is annoying when she eats french fries in it.

Cincy Williams was one of five cast members of American Graffiti who were appearing at the Chicago Hollywood Celebrity and Memorabila Show on October 17, 2009. I had already had all of these cast member, Cindy Williams included, sign my movie poster 8×10 reproduction (as seen here), so mainly I was just after a picture with her and the others.

However, since she was so well known for Laverne & Shirley, I went ahead and picked up the signed photo seen at the top of the posting – with the hopes of running into Penny Marshall (again) one day as well.

She was amiable and willing to pose for the photo, even if she seemed a bit offput and surprised that I came behind her table. In fact, my Mom says that she told me that I couldn’t and I did anyway. Apparently I wasn’t listening. Still she was friendly and impressed by the signature s(including Harrison Ford) that I had obtained on my photo.

She looked great too – and thankfully wasn’t eating fries.

  1. What! You not listening? Remember, when a woman speaks; you must listen…..

  2. Miss Williams probably would prefer to forget her role in a musical porn film from 1976 – “The First Nudie Musical”. Actually, she was one of the few performers who kept fully clothed, and her character was very much like her “Shirley” character.

  3. Back in2000,I did a recording session with Cindy for some PSA’ she was doing. She was so nice and signed anything I asked her to.This was a day that I also recorded with Jack Lemmon and Greogry Peck so she was impressed with my autographs for the day.But I told her I was madly in love with her when I was 12 and she kissed me on the cheek!
