The newsletter that Carolyn, Ashleigh, and I (with special assistance from Briana) put together for Christmas 2005 was the last one that would include the original ABC Crew. It was a rather difficult one to write, especially where the introduction was concerned. As always, I wrote this intro, and I wanted to convey a sense of ‘we’re not a perfect family’ – even if we were in the midst of trying to work on it. With all of the beating we had taken as a family, I think we all were able to put a positive spin on this, our third Christmas Newsletter.

One thing about this particular year that I recall was that this was the first time that we took photos with the intention that they would be used in the newsletter. The ash photo on the back page was one example that comes to mind. So I would say that this newsletter was the precursor to this very website. As you will see, I put a special focus on my California trip to show just how much I accomplished during the year.

This was also the first time that Briana contributed her section and it was a pleasure to have her on board…

The photo used as the centerpiece of the front page collage was taken at the Bear Creek Church family photo session to be used in their yearbook. This one, and the two that are shown here were the result of a bit of a long and slightly frustrating photo shoot where Carolyn kept finding something wrong with each photo. Her original intention was to have us all wear purple and have it blown up to a giant size family photo to hang in our ‘purple’ living room, so that was why she wanted it perfect. Ironically, except for the cover of the newsletter, they were never used for any purpose, not even handed out in wallets. The three 8 x 10s still sit in their original packaging.

2005 will conclude with our last Christmas together…

  1. Brad sporting the tie? Classic.
Grandpa Murphy wearing his ‘Fricken Christmas’ sweatshirt? Priceless.
