sea.jpgAs I recall, I did not do a whole lot of autograph collecting from the celebrities in attendance at the Sea-Tac 2000 Sons of the Desert convention. I had never met Patsy Britten before so I had her sign a photo. And I had a new shot of Peggy Cartwright for her to sign – but the other three I had met on occasions in the past and pretty much had all of the autographs I needed from them – especially since they were now selling their photos at 10 bucks a pop.

It was great to see them, though. I had met Edith Fellows in 1997 during one of my California trips. She is a very kind and soft-spoken lady, who today is living in the Hollywood Motion Picture home. She worked with the Our Gang in three of their films and also had large parts in Charley Chase’s Movie Night and W.C. Fields’ Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch. She makes a small on-screen appearance with Laurel and Hardy in The Devil’s Brother. Above she is pictured with Dorothy deBorba posing with look-a-likes in Laurel and Hardytown.

Dorothy and I go way back. I first met her twenty years prior to this convention at Hollywood ’80. She made quite a fuss over me and I remember telling friends in my third grade class that I had a ‘girlfriend’ in Hollywood, referring to Dorothy. She attended every convention following 1980 up until her last appearance in Nashville in 2002. Of course, throughout the 1980’s I thought it was a huge deal to know this celebrity. In 1990, we spent a lot of time chatting and smoking together. In the 90’s, it became commonplace that we would often socialize and have her at our tables for dinner at the conventions.

In 2000, we had known each other for twenty years when we snapped the photos below of Denise and me with her. She is still living in Livermore, California, but is unable to travel. I miss seeing her at our biennial conventions. Denise apparently had a jittery hand when she took our picture.

Although I didn’t get a lot of signed photos in Sea-Tac, I did have all of them autograph the program as seen below.

  1. Edith Fellows!

I wish I could meet her. She must be an amazing person. I admire child actors/actress, they were children that were unique, considering they acted!!!

  2. Unfortunately, Dorothy Adelle DeBorba is no longer living. Respecting her wishes, her body was cremated without any service and the ashes are scattered somewhere in the United States.
