deb3.jpgMy cousin Debby recently moved from Miamisburg into Beavercreek with her boyfriend Mike. Its nice now that they are much closer, and hopefully this will result in additional parties and visits to one another. On Saturday, May 5, they were having their second cookout that I have been invited to since she moved in. Unfortunately, I was on my way up to Chicago when the last impromptu get-together was announced. This time there was plenty of notice as this party was in celebration of her receiving her Masters degree in Science in Education as an Intervention Specialist from the University of Dayton.

Her new digs was a nice house near the Beavercreek Library, a place I often frequent in search of CD’s to ‘listen to’. Outside, there was a huge yard where guests could partake in some corn hole action – and the interior of the house itself seemed to wind around and around and never end. Debby had added the Claude decorative touch to the house – especially in the living room. Some of the folks at the picnic watched the Kentucky Derby, but I was about as interested in that as I am in memorizing the phone book. Denise and I found something very interesting in the kitchen – a slice of abandoned pizza inside the microwave. We located this as we were searching for a place to put the plastic wrapper from the meat and cheese snack tray I brought.

Ashleigh had to work, so it was just Briana and I who attended from my household. Mom and Bob were there, of course, as were Denise, Aaron, and Adam – looking cute as always. He started to fuss for the first instant I held him, but I assuaged his concerns by sing my rendition of “Boom-Chicka-Boom” and “The Cats in the Air Go Meow, Meow, Meow.” Briana also played with him a lot while I socialized with Debby, Cathy, Diana, Darlene, Zach, and of course my immediate family and several others partygoers. It was a bit chilly so we never did get down to the cornhole area.

We had a great time, but didn’t stay too long as Briana wanted to get home and watch The Bad News Bears in Breaking Training and The Bad News Bears. She was here for the weekend, so she and I also had a swell time on Sunday going out to Frisch’s for breakfast (along with Ashleigh), watching Snakes on a Plane, cutting and trimming the lawn, and passing softball and frisbee. My shoulder still hurts.
