"After viewing the situation from all sides, Mr. Laurel says that he is thoroughly reconciled to the fact that the moving picture industry is still in its infancy." - Radio announcer, "Me and My Pal"

It was within the past couple of years that I was watching Better Off Dead and became intrigued by the adorable girl who played foreign exchange student Monique. Ah, Monique. But anyway, I actually went to the effort of looking her up on Wikipedia, wondering whatever had become of her – and mostly was curious as to whether she was still smokin’ hot in her mid-40’s. On Saturday, April 24, I got my answer. But I nearly bypassed my opportunity to get an autograph and photo with her.

Diane Franklin, who had also starred in The Last American Virgin, Amityville II: The Possession, and BillĀ & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, was charging $20 for her photos and $10 to get a picture with her. Her handler denied my request that I be granted a two-fer…and so I walked. Later on that morning, I caught Diane away from the handler and told her that now was her golden opportunity to make $20 and deny the stringent handler his authority. And guess what? She complied. It seems that she did speak the international language…money!!

And I must be fair and go on to tell you that Diane was extremely nice and friendly, even offering to put on the famous jacket from the film when she posed with me.

And, oh yeah, she was hot.
