Brad's Musings and Meanderings

random acts of quoting

"I can see you right now in the kitchen, bending over a hot stove. But I can't see the stove." - Groucho Marx, "Duck Soup"

Sean Young has had a wide and varied film career, starring in many that I have enjoyed over the years. Perhaps most notable is her part of Rachael opposite Harrison Ford in the cult classic sci-fi thriller Blade Runner – a film that I first saw after our meeting. But I had seen her in several films before our encounter at the Hollywood Show in Burbank, on Saturday, April 24, 2010. For instance, Stripes, Wall Street, Dick Tracy, Kingpin, and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.

Our encounter was rather unmemorable, even if it wasn’t outrageously costly. She was charging $30 for a signed photo, but was willing to pose for free along with the purchase. She still looked good and was generally quiet and pleasant – and I’m glad I got the chance to meet her.

Celebs of the Spring 2010 Hollywood Show will continue

  1. Well, first of all, props to you for seeking out her best known work and sitting through it *after* having met her. And now that you’ve seen “Blade Runner,” could you please give us an inkling as to your take on it? Thumbs up? Thumbs down?

  2. Definitely thumbs up. Although Sci-Fi is probably my least favorite genre, I was mesmerized by the stylishness of nearly every scene. This would definitely be one I’d want to upgrade to Blu-Ray when the day comes.

  3. Agreed all the way around. Most serious Sci-Fi bores me, but “Blade Runner” is an all time favorite. The book, “The Making of Blade Runner” by Paul M. Sammon is a very worthwhile and highly recommended read — especially given your interest in intricate production detail, etc. I’ve got the movie in HighDef, and the images are gorgeous enough to rip your face off.

  4. She would’ve made a fine Catwoman.
