I am from the Saturday morning cartoon ilk. I literally spent many of my childhood Saturday mornings in front of the TV watching The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Show, Fat Albert, The Pink Panther, The Monster Squad, In the News, and my personal favorite, the live-action Land of the Lost. As any man who was once a boy watching this show will tell you, the girl playing Holly was a hottie: a rugged tomboy capable of getting her hands dirty, but with glowing blonde pigtails that made our hearts flutter. At the time, I had no idea that her real name was Kathy Coleman… or that nearly 35 years later I’d be getting to meet her.

But I did! I had been bummed when she made an appearance at an earlier Hollywood Show that I had to miss, but as equally excited to find out that she’d be present for the Hollywood Show on April 2, 2011.

Kathy Coleman hadn’t done any acting that I knew of since her days in Land of the Lost, but she did appear on the bonus features on the set of DVDs that I own (along with TV brother Wesley Eure), so at least I had seen what she now looked like. She was very friendly right off the bat, telling me repeatedly that I looked like Keifer Sutherland, and even going so far to advise me to join an agency who rents out ‘look-alikes’.

Although her handler was pretty darn tempted to charge me extra, Kathy ended up letting me getting a picture with her at no charge after I purchased one of her signed photos – of her being stalked by one of the eerie Sleestaks. Those things sure gave me a few nightmares back in the day.

Any way you slice it, it brings back a heck of a lot of fond memories. It was a matter of meeting both a childhood crush and a Saturday morning TV icon on that day, and I’m so glad that Kathy Coleman made the trip back from the land of the lost safely in order to land in Burbank for this special Saturday morning.
