As a long-time fan of both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, I don’t generally pass up the chance to get autographs from or meet members of the shows’ casts. The Chiller Theatre Show in Parsippany, New Jersey, on April 30, 2011, brought along two such opportunities for these celebrity encounters. The first, and probably more impressive of the two, was getting to meet Mercedes McNab, who portrayed snotty-girl-turned-vampire Harmony Kendall in both series.
The character of Harmony made her first appearance (discounting the un-aired pilot) in the second episode of Buffy. In the earliest of days, she was merely a member of the Cordelia’s clique, The Cordettes. At the end of the third season, she is killed and sired by a vampire, only to return in vampire form the next season. Eventually she leaves Sunnydale and becomes a partner in the Angel series. In all, she starred in 32 episodes between both series.
In real life, my attempts to strike a deal and get some relief from the $10 she was charging to get picture with her in addition to the $25 for her signed photos were thwarted and staked. Since her Buffy co-star Clare Kramer appeared to be under the same management (handlers) and was charging the same, I didn’t even bother asking her for a deal, knowing that I was going to just accept it and hope that she didn’t suck my brain out.
Clare Kramer portrayed Glorificus, or Glory, in a total of 13 episodes, all but one of which were during the fifth season. She was the most indestructible of Buffy’s foes up to that point, having been a god from a hell dimension banished to Earth. It was one of the best of the Buffy story arcs – and explains the inscription (that she came up with, not me) on the photo above.
Despite the prices, it was nice to add two more extremely attractive actresses to my résumé of Buffy cast encounters.
Celebrities of the Spring 2011 Chiller Show will continue…
I really like the fact that you spell résumé with the appropriate acute french accents. Great Catsafterme Attention to detail.
