"What in the wide, wide world of sports is going on here?" - Taggart, "Blazing Saddles"

My friend Peter would be quite proud of me for this next celebrity encounter. Although she made appearances here and there in few shows and movies I’ve seen – for example Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, and the TV series Buffalo Bill with Dabney Coleman – the number one reason that I purchased a signed photo of Joanna Cassidy was because she played the pivotal role of Zhora in the classic sci-fi film Blade Runner. And if I wanted extra brownie points, I might also note that she had appeared in the Mission: Impossible TV series as well.

She was very friendly when I got the chance to meet her at the Hollywood Show on Saturday, April 2, 2011. Her fee was the reasonable $20 for a signed photo and she posed for the picture with me for free. Just the way I like celebrities to be – but unfortunately they’re getting rarer and rarer. I almost wanted to cull up a quote from Zhora and ask, “Are you for real?”
