It wasn’t all that long before we got to meet her that Jamie was twirling her hair and asking what film it was that she recalled a girl twirling her hair in the same fashion. It soon dawned on her that it was in fact the character of Linda, who dumped on the hero Robby (portrayed by Adam Sandler) in The Wedding Singer. So when it just so happened that Angela Featherstone, the actress who had played Linda, was going to be appearing at the Chicago Hollywood Celebrities Show on October 1, 2011, I was excited that Jamie would get the chance to meet her.
At the time, I hadn’t realized that Angela Featherstone had appeared in other works that interested me. For starters, she played the ‘copy girl’ Chloe in two episodes of Friends – the one whom Ross sleeps with while he and Rachel were ‘on a break’. She’s also Cindy the maid in the Seinfeld episode The Maid
At first I was concerned that Angela might be irritated with the fact that I had worked out a deal with her handler for a free photo with her after I purchased the autographed Wedding Singer picture. My fears were later assuaged when, through her agent, she sent me a private note stating she was “sorry (you) did not have a good experience…(you are) there to have fun and see people (you) like – I deeply regret (that you both) had a less than perfect time and wish (you) only the very best.”
I found this to be quite admirable and was pleased that Ms. Featherstone truly cares about the impression she leaves on her fans, and I hope that we do get the chance to meet again.
Naturally, I also worked it so that Jamie could jump into one of the photos as well, so she’d have a memento of her encounter with a fellow hair-twirler.
