Frances Fisher is quite a versatile actress who seamlessly makes the transition back and forth between comedy and drama. She also holds the distinction of starring in supporting roles of two Oscar winning Best Pictures. In Titanic, she portrayed Ruth DeWitt Bukater, the cold-as-steel mother of Kate Winslet’s character Rose. Five years earlier, she had played Strawberry Alice in the Clint Eastwood western Unforgiven. Both performances were impeccable.

Her career in TV has been just as lucrative, with roles in sitcoms such as Becker and Two and a Half Men and dramas such as The X Files, ER, and Grey’s Anatomy. But perhaps the truest testament to her acting ability is that she was chosen to portray Lucille Ball in the TV movie Lucy & Desi: Before the Laughter.

Although Frances Fisher is a fine actress, I had never considered her all that attractive, so I was somewhat taken aback when I got the chance to meet her at the Hollywood Show on October 8, 2011, to find that she was actually quite stunning, especially for a woman going on 60 years old. She had a very sweet demeanor about  her and I was happy with paying the $30 to get an autographed photo from Titanic and get a picture taken with her.
