ns3It was fun to watch the TV drama series Matlock on Sunday evenings or on sick day afternoons. The show wasn’t breaking any entertainment records, but it was certainly pleasant enough fare – especially for fans of Andy Griffith and his homespun southern disposition. I had watched it now and then through the years and liked it enough to be interested in meeting any of the co-stars whom I happened to run into. I had already crossed passed with Matlock’s TV daughter Linda Purl in 2001, and at the Hollywood Show in Burbank on August 4, 2012, I got to meet her second-season replacement, Nancy Stafford, who would star as Matlock’s new friend and law partner Michelle Thomas from seasons 2-6.

Nancy Stafford hasn’t done too much else that interested me, mostly playing one-shot characters in TV dramas such as Judging Amy, ER, and in a recurring role in St. Elsewhere. She also worked her way into a few sitcoms here and there, such as Frasier, Who’s the Boss, and Saved by the Bell: The College Years.

Our encounter was pleasant enough, but it was mostly monopolized by my friend Ashleigh, who purchased one of her devotional books and a copy of her DVD Christmas with a Capitol C as gifts to give her Mom for Christmas.

I’m slowly chipping away at the main cast from Matlock. Since there’s no chance of ever meeting Andy Griffith himself now, meeting his co-stars is the best that I can do.
