patsy3.jpgAlthough Patsy Barry, who was one incarnation of “Baby Patsy” in the Our Gang films, had few appearances – and generally no fanfare – in the Little Rascals, it was still a tremendous pleasure to meet her. I first got the chance during the Hollywood Collectors Show in October of 2005. She had a very nice child portrait of herself, displayed at left, along with a couple of Our Gang stills in which she can be seen. To be honest, I have never picked her out in an actual film.

Amidst a sea of familiar faces on the set of the Academy Award winning 1936 short Bored of Education, Patsy can be found sitting on the extreme left. Woim later added his signature to the photo as well.

The real pleasure was in her kindness today. She and her husband, along with another small-time Our Gang member Joy Wurgaft and her husband, took Bob and I out to breakfast on the Sunday morning of my 34th birthday. The pickings are getting slim when it comes to finding actors who legitimately starred in films with the Our Gang. Patsy Barry was the real deal, but more important than that, she is still a charmer today.

  2. Your sister was my patient at the Anaheim nursing home. She was fun & active & still liked to run into people with her wheel chair and loved to clap and tell you about being patty on the little rascals.
