boba3For the casual viewer, the character of Boba Fett from the Star Wars universe borders on becoming an obscure, or at best a lesser-known character from the series. But the hardcore fans of the films just might get excited about this posting that details encounters with two of the actors who portrayed Boba Fett at the Hollyood Show in Burbank on February 11, 2012. But if you fall in the former category and wish to read on, I’ll apprise you of the character by telling you that he is a bounty hunter hired by Darth Vader in the second two entries of the series, The Empire Strikes Back and The Return of the Jedi.

Although the character is never seen behind his mask, there was most certainly the face of a man back there. It belonged to Jeremy Bulloch, whose brother alerted him to try out for the roll, which he got primarily because he fit the suit perfectly (ala Johnny Bravo…). His voice however was provided by Jason Wingreen (and you can see my meeting with him here). Bulloch’s association with Star Wars didn’t quite end there, as he had a small role as Captain Colton in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Interestingly, Jeremy Bulloch also had small parts in three James Bond films: The Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only, and Octopussy.

I had already obtained a signed photo of Jeremy Bulloch along with other purchases at the Bookery in Fairborn in 1997. But it wasn’t until more than fifteen years later that I got to meet him face to face. The encounter was extremely pleasant and after showing him the photo that I had already purchased, he was nice enough to pose for a free photo with me.

Sitting nearby was the young actor Daniel Logan. At 24 years old, he already had a Star Wars credit under his belt, one I’m sure he’ll utilize to the fullest for the rest of his life. I wasn’t quite sure if he had been in one of the movies, or if he was just portraying young Boba Fett in the animated series The Clone Wars, but he told me that he had been in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones as well. That clinched it for me and I plopped down my $25 for the signed photo form the film.

He was a nice kid and his handler (girlfriend?) snapped the photos of us. At first she did it from seated position, but when I asked her to stand up, she obliged. No Jedi mind tricks were necessary.

When it comes to Star Wars characters, how can you go wrong? Especially one with a cult following like Boba Fett.
