I pretty much never ever ever pay any mind to the soap opera stores that show up at the autograph shows from time to time. But I’ll admit that Lorenzo Lamas’ name is so deeply rooted in my head as the quintessential soap star that I went ahead and got him when he appeared at the Hollywood Show on April 21, 2012. To be honest, at the time I got him I couldn’t have named one single show that he had been in, but there are just same names that you know could have the potential to be a conversation starter…especially with a hairy chest like that!
Turns out, he was not only in the daytime soap operas (ie. The Bold and the Beautiful), but is more widely known for his nighttime soap roles. He was actually in the cast of Falcon Crest for nine years. And he had a relatively lucrative career in the movies. What? You’ve never heard of Snake Eater II: The Drug Buster or Midnight Man or 18 Fingers of Death? Me neither.
BUT here’s the kicker: he was in the original Grease as the squeaky clean Tom Chisum. If nothing else, this justifies his inclusion in my collection as he makes 11 from the cast that I’ve met, or an even dozen if you count the film’s director.
Once I had made the decision to get him, it was smooth sailing. It was just a matter of throwing down my $20 and collecting the autograph and free photo op. It doesn’t rank at the top of my encounters, but like I said, it’s a good conversation piece. So let’s conversate…

Hi Brad! Lorenzo was actually in a show called “Renegade” in the 90’s. Great show back then. I actually sent him an Elvis plaque on his birthday and received a surprise phone call from his agent in California one evening. Lorenzo was very happy to receive the Elvis plaque and in return, mailed me a “Renegade” press kit. It had everything! Posters, original autographs, slide, folder, notes, etc. It was truly amazing! I had it for about 10+ years before finally selling it on Ebay to a guy in France. I hated to let it go, but needed the money to replace my central air unit. Sometimes (like right now) I regret it. Take care cousin 🙂
