"Now I forgot the safe words again. SAY 'EM!" - Carol, "Saturday Night Live"

crab6.jpgThe laziness continued. There were only three distinct events which took place in my life on Thursday, September 27, 2007 and none were all that exciting on the surface. In between all of them was the standard laying around, munching on snacks, and watching TV shows on my little DVD player – ones that have been amply described in previous postings from this vacation. But these three occurrences will surely evoke fond memories of spending time with my family in Daytona Beach.

First off, by the time I ventured out of the room, it was 11:00am. Truth be told, I really wasn’t too gung-ho about taking a dip in the pool. Being into the Fall, the intense heat wasn’t driving me into the water, and having been eating like warthog all week, my physique certainly wasn’t at its finest – but I didn’t want to have to say that I had visited Daytona Beach and never swam, so in I leapt. Also, there was Adam, looking as cute as can be in his borrowed flotation device and little orange hat as he nodded off into sleepland. This was the first event.

…Gone!

Second was the cookout. Following our swim and Adam’s nap, Bob began to prepare hamburgers on the supplied grill. So at 1:30pm, we all lunched by the pool at a picnic table under a nice tarp. Immediately proceeding the meal was a return to hibernation in the room with the DVD’s and the couch.

Touch my hamburger and I’ll rip off your limbs!

I re-emerged for the third and final notable event of the day: a trip to the Charlie Horse – a fine “burgers, wings, ribs, seafood, and steaks” restaurant located just down the road from the Americano. It was here that we proved what a fun-loving and crazy family we really are. The fact that we were so amused with our food – particularly the crablegs – speaks volumes about our maturity level – and was brilliantly captured in the photos below.

Ashleigh, Mom, Bob, and Denise…ready for some thrills. Aaron was taking Adam for a walk.

This is the best Denise could do. Aaron lacks enthusiasm.

Denise is mesmerized by the similarity between the crablegs and her hand. Aaron’s interests lie elsewhere.

Up next: our Daytona Beach trip will conclude…
