By attending as many autographs shows as I do, sometimes you notice that the same celebrities keep showing up time after time after time. Sometimes its nice to say hello to one whom you’ve met before, and of course it’s always nice when they recognize you, which has happened a good dozen times. Then there are the ones you just don’t care about, so you get tired of seeing them on the list. One of these in my case is Norman Reedus, who always has huge lines and is always part of a reunion of Boondock Saints or a cast gathering of The Walking Dead – again neither of which I really care anything about.
In the case of his appearance at the Chiller Theatre show in Parsippany, New Jersey on April 28, 2012, it was a gathering of the Boondock Saints dudes. I couldn’t quite believe it when I saw the line protruding way out the front door of the hotel, thinking it was just the line to get inside, but it turned out to be the line for these actors. I had only one of them on my list and that was Sean Patrick Flannery, who was on my radar because he had been in the movie Powder. But when I saw the line, I didn’t get too upset about the prospect of skipping him.
But at one point later in the day, I got up near the area where they were sitting and I noticed a familiar phenomenon. Altough the line was ostensibly for all of the actors, it was Norman Reedus who was getting most of the attention, so I slipped in unnoticed to Sean Patrick Flannery’s table. His price wasn’t too terribly outrageous: $30 for the autograph and a free photo with him.
I also noticed another that elevated his desirability for me. I had not realized that he was the young actor who had starred in The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, having replaced River Phoenix who had portrayed Young Indy in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Admittedly I do not remember a whole lot about this TV series, but would like to. But since Indiana Jones is one of the most iconic characters in screen history, I thought it would be cool to have him sign this photo.
He was extemely nice, and in fact when I approached his table he was busy doing a favor for another fan – calling him and leaving him a raucous message in character as Connor MacManus from The Boondock Saints. I love it when celebs go the extra mile.
