"...But where would I find such a man? Why am I asking you." - Hedley Lamarr, "Blazing Saddles"

wink1I never took game shows very seriously, but for one exception. They were moderately entertaining fodder in the 70’s and 80’s, but once we got into the 90’s – with the brief exception of Who Want’s to Be a Millionaire and the occasional tuning into Jeopardy, I mostly steer clear of them. The one big exception was the game show Tic Tac Dough, which for some reason appealed to me so much in the early 1980’s that there was a span of a couple of months that I watched two episodes a night and physically documented how many questions I got right on each episode.

The scores are long gone, but the memories of this show are still warm and fuzzy, and thus I was beyond excited to find out that the show’s host during the stint that I watched between 1978 and 1985 would be appearing at the Hollywood Show on April 20, 2013.

Wink had a long history acting as a disc jockey and TV game show host (and even received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame), but it was only for Tic Tac Dough that he was emblazoned in my memory. That was clearly enough for me to shell out the minimal $20 for a signed photo and a free photo op for both me and Carolyn.

Like the show, meeting Wink gave me a warm fuzzy and a big smile. Although he typically wore a suit on the game shows, it somehow seemed right that he would be wearing such a warm, and inviting sweater.
