  • 001. Fundraiser – 4/22/2012
    • Vice President of the United States Selina Meyer has decided to make the Clean Jobs Commission her legacy – with the help of her staff: Chief of Staff Amy Brookheimer (Anna Chlumsky), personal aide Gary Walsh (Tony Cole), Director of Communications Mike McLintock (Matt Walsh), and personal assistant Sue Wilson (Sufe Bradshaw). The staff is constantly at odds with White House liaison Jonah Ryan (Timothy Simons). Selina attempts to gather support for a filibuster reform bill, but only a handful of Senators show up at a gathering because one of her staff members sent out a Tweet pushing coin starch utensils instead of plastic, angering both the plastic and oil industries – who have a good portion of Senators in its pocket. Selina seeks help from Senator Hallowes (Kate Burton) who is rather cold to her and comments that she was “hoisted by her own retard” – a comment that Selina repeats during an uncomfortable speech, much to the chagrin of the Mental Health groups. She also manages to steal Dan Egan (Reid Scott) from Hallowes’ staff. He had dated Amy in the past and is rather unscrupulous, but Selina needs his candor and effectiveness. Amy also mishandles the signing of a condolence card for Senator Reeves who passes away. She accidentally signs her own name instead of forging that of the VP. Gary is forced to retrieve it from Jonah, but only gets it on the condition that he arrange a date with Amy. Will Love is Phillip Dorsey. 10/18/14

  • 002. Frozen Yoghurt – 4/29/2012
    • The VP’s task force for the Clean Jobs Commission is going to be green lit, but the White House asks that the announcement not be made until the President returns from South Africa the following week. This presents Dan with the unpleasant task of keeping hostile Washington Post reporter Leon West (Brian Huskey) at bay. Selina asks to meet some common folks, so it is arranged for her to visit the Super Scooper “Frozen Yoghurt” shop owned by Anthony Holland (Brent Jennings) and his elderly mother Maria (Geraldine Waters). Her visit is delayed when she has to report to the Situation Room at the White House when the President begins experiencing chest pains. Jonah tries to butter her up, thinking she may become his new boss, but soon the crisis is averted, and she asked to stand down. Meanwhile, Gary has been asked if he’d be willing to take a bullet for the VP, so he jumps in front of a sneeze coming from Eric (Dan Franko), the assistant of Senator Andrew Doyle (Phil Reeves), who says he will support her filibuster bill if she will keep oil off the Clean Jobs task force – to which she agrees under pressure. Gary ultimately becomes sick and eventually is it passed onto the VP, as she finally makes it to the now-unenthusiastic proprietors of the Yoghurt shop. After her weak photo-op, she can hardly make it to her limo without pooping her pants. 10/18/14
  • 003. Catherine – 5/6/2012
    • As Selina celebrates her 20th year in Washington with a party at her residence, she faces turmoil as a reporter prints that there is a rift between her and the First Lady. She is also caught between factions as Senator Doyle strongly advises Selina not to put ex-oil man Chuck Furnam (Eddie Jones) on the task force, and oil lobbyist Sidney Purcell (Peter Grosz), who doesn’t consider him ‘oily’ enough. Their strategy is to tell Doyle that they’re appointing Purcell, which causes Doyle to then beg for Furnam, and let be Purcell be an unofficial advisor. Meanwhile, Selina’s daughter Catherine (Sarah Sutherland) visits her mom to help pick out a family dog, and gets irate when Selina’s diva ego compels her to change the name of an upcoming hurricane named “Selina”. They reconcile until Jonah forces them to nix the plan to get the dog because the First Lady is getting one. Mike fakes having his own dog to get out of performing tasks. 11/16/14
  • 004. Chung – 5/13/2012
    • Amy and Dan attend a book signing of Governor Danny Chung (Randall Park), whom Selina starts to fear will seek the Vice-Presidency during the President’s second term. Her staffer Scott finds out that Chung was not born in America and is thus ineligible to run. Jonah tells Selina that during her upcoming Meet the Press interview she is not to push her filibuster reform, but rather immigration reform. Meanwhile, Senator Doyle pulls his support of the filibuster reform, so Amy and Dan court Senator Bill O’Brien (Brad Leland), and promise that with his support, the Veep will oppose immunity to illegal immigrants who have been in the country for more than five years. After her interview, she is still wearing her mic while discussing Chung with Sam Finnigan (Ron Perkins) and mentions that he was ‘not an American.’ A crane crashes on a ship which takes the focus off her blunder temporarily, but soon it is broadcast while Selina is visiting the crash victims in Portsmouth, Virginia. Chung announces that his parents were American citizens when he was born. Scott is fired. Several of the staff members start finding out about Selina’s love affair with a man named Ted Cullen (Andy Buckley). Azhar Khan is the sound guy. 11/16/14
  • 005. Nicknames – 5/20/2012
    • Dan goes on a fact-finding mission to gauge the support level of the President for the Clean Jobs Bill by pretending to be friends with Jonah and going out to bad restaurants and thrash metal concerts. But Selina is blind-sided when the President scuttles the bill in favor of pushing the Fiscal Responsibility Bill. Dan suggests getting a Senator to add the meat of the Clean Jobs Bill as an amendment to the other bill. Although she desperately wants to, she decides not to be attached to that sort of disobedience. However after working discreetly with Dan, Senator McCauley pushes the amendment, but Selina, acting on Amy’s advice, votes it down. Dan abandons Jonah as a friend since he wasn’t privy to the President’s stance on Clean Jobs. Later Jonah announces that the President has assigned Selina the task force on obesity, a job she despises. Meanwhile, Selina has snickering Secret Service agent Martin Collins (William L. Thomas) re-assigned and becomes obsessed about finding out what nicknames bloggers are giving her. Mike attempts to write jokes for Selina’s speech for the Firefighter’s Association. Selina and her staff give up a trip to Paris. Jonah reveals that he is fructose intolerant. 12/26/14
  • 006. Baseball – 5/27/2012
    • Selina kicks off her Healthy Eating Initiative with a group of fast food industry leaders (two of whom are played by Barry Shabaka Henley and Kevin Heffernan) at Camden Yards, home of the Baltimore Orioles. Gary is excited that this will give him a chance to impress his father with the baseball team photo op. Selina confides in Amy that she might be pregnant. Everyone is temporarily quarantined in the park due to a gas main leak, made more miserable since there is only vegan food in their room. Gary is outside the park searching for a pregnancy test so he misses his photo op. Mike is confronted by Leon West about Selina’s firing the smiling Secret Service Agent. When Mike reports to Amy that the press is saying that she’s repugnant, she thinks he says ‘pregnant’ so there is a push to get the pregnancy test performed quickly. Selina also demands that Ted get her an engagement ring. Since Selina is quarantined, Amy and Dan have to stall and entertain a classroom of elementary students where Selina is supposed to be. Selina becomes increasingly frustrated with lip-reading photographer Ken (Patrick Fischler) who continuously touches Selina’s arm. She finally gets to the school, where she quickly takes a pregnancy test, and lets the class sing her a song … during which Gary reports to her that she is indeed pregnant. Ken’s photos turn out terrible. Orioles Jake Arietta, Tommy Hunter, and Jim Palmer play themselves. Marc Unger is Sean. 12/26/14
  • 007. Full Disclosure – 6/3/2012
    • The media is swirling about the incompetence of Selina and her staff, with pregnancy rumors and criticism of her firing secret service agent Collins for smiling. Privately Selina has had a miscarriage, and also fears that Ted is going to break up with her. Mike goes to see Collins, but the press gets wind that Mike says he was grinning like some ‘ape’. Amy suggest giving the press full disclosure to all of the staff’s correspondence, but censors some of it before releasing it. The press latches on to Ted’s many visits to the Residence, and Jonah is embarrassed about emails that reference getting him a cake or hat shaped like a penis for his birthday.  Selina threatens to fire either Amy, Mike, or Dan, and the three of them conspire on a ‘suicide pact’, that if one is fired, they all walk. Meanwhile Gary sets up his house as a place for Selina to discreetly meet with Ted, and then she has Gary break it off with him on her behalf. Gary finds out from Sue that he had purchased the pregnancy test while wearing his staff tag and that is how the media found out. Gary tries to resign, but Selina tells him that she knew all along and refuses his resignation. Selina forces Amy to come up with a plan and prods her toward claiming that the pregnancy test was hers and this is why she was in the state of mind to re-assign the secret serviceman. 2/14/15
  • 008. Tears – 6/10/2012
    • Selina and her staff travel to Cleveland, Ohio to endorse Congressman Roger Furlong (Dan Bakkedahl) at a Democratic fundraiser. With her disapproval rating at 66%, Furlong and his staffer Will (Nelson Franklin) ask Selina to pull her endorsement because she is toxic. This causes her to meltdown and cry before throwing Furlong out of her hotel room. Amy and Mike decide that her crying during a local televised interview might humanize her and improve her ratings. They feed the reporter a few things to trigger her tears, including that the President is playing golf with Governor Chung, and soon she is crying again … which actually boosts her ratings, making Furlong reconsider having her endorse him. Back in D.C., Selina promotes Dan for arranging the endorsement, but soon the reporter is claiming she was manipulated into making Selina cry. Furlong marches into Selina’s office and reads her the riot act, threatening to arrange a congressional hearing to expose the fact that Dan got Senator McCauley to push the Clean Jobs bill. Dan is immediately demoted privately, but since he has already issued a press release about his promotion, he is able to keep the title. Selina nearly breaks down in tears again. 2/14/15

Selina sends Mike via helicopter to retrieve her daughter and her new Iranian boyfriend Rahim (Walid Amini) to negotiate her giving an apology. While conducting interviews about her daughter’s paper at the pig roast, she is seen on camera with a rotating pig behind her, which would be offensive to the Israelis, so Jonah tries to crouch in front of it on camera. Catherine agrees to apologize if she can spend the two days after Thanksgiving with Rahim’s family, but Selina later asks Mike to run a check on Rahim’s family. Sue throws Roger Furlong out of the office when he rudely demands an audience with Selina to discuss a Senate run. When the President finally gives the go-ahead for the rescue mission, Selina lobbies for it to take place on January 6, which would be when Sue is scheduled to return to the second hearing so that she will fall out of the public’s eye. Sue’s bumbling replacement secretary Cliff (Craig Cackowski) tells her that this date would be okay, but she later realizes that there is a Senators swearing-in ceremony that she has to attend on that date. Jonah, who now has a West Wing parking space to the chagrin of Mike and Dan, likes the song so much that he posts it on Tumbler and Reddit, causing a negative backlash from European leaders. Kent borrows Mike to work on demographic program because they both are interested in sailing, and Selina agrees to it so she can go to Europe and act as the POTUS’s behalf for the Helsinki Agreement. The backlash however promises to make the trip miserable, and when Selina finds out that Jonah is the one who released the video of her song, she throws him off the plane… and takes away his parking privileges. Selina and Mary come to an agreement at the party, but because Selina had to quiet the music so that they could talk, the party clears out. Selina and Andrew try to make it up to Catherine by taking her out to eat, but they alternate between flirting and fighting, while trying to keep cheery faces for the press, who thinks that Selina used their phony relationship to help get votes. When Selina finds out that POTUS is not going to approve the economic agreement so that he can blame it on Congress and take the focus off the hostage spy situation, Selina gets angry and makes a gesture toward Andrew, a photo of which quickly gets put on Twitter. As they drive home, Andrew gets out of the car and is followed by Selina; Catherine is left behind with her cake to watch them make out with each other. The Finnish Prime Minister Minna Häkkinen also comes along to help broker the deal, and advises Selina to slam her hands down and walk out of the meeting if the Chinese won’t agree to the terms. Since Catherine received all of the inheritance, she now has her mother on an allowance, even though it is actually Marjorie who controls all of the money for her. Meanwhile, Mike is staying at home and taking care of children, while feeding Selina details from his diary about her presidency. His wife Wendy forces him to ask her for pay, so she invites him to work for her… but won’t give him any pay on the book until it is published. Amy is working on the Nevada Governor campaign of Buddy Calhoun, as well as having an affair with him. However, neither he or his staff members care for Amy’s brash style of digging up sexual dirt on his opponent. Congressman Jonah Ryan is now completely bald and purportedly has cancer. Dan is about to get promoted to become the co-host of anchorwoman Jane McCabe (Margaret Colin), but when he sees how explosive she is toward everyone, Dan decides to purposely blow his chance by having Jonah on as a guest. When he catches Jonah shaving his own head, he realizes that Jonah is lying about his cancer, although Jonah maintains that he did have it and lost his hair initially, but now that it is in remission, the cancer helped boost his poll numbers. Dan instigates a fight with Jonah, and causes him to have a meltdown on camera before the interview even gets underway. Dan thinks this will kill his chance of being named as a co-host, but his co-worker Stevie (Paul Scheer) assures him that the incident made excellent TV. Selina plans for a trip to make an appearance in Omaha, but the reason she wants to go there is because it is nearby Council Bluffs, Iowa, where she wants to attend the Madison and Monroe dinner where she can announce that she once again plans to run for President. After she reveals this to a completely-shocked Gary, she gathers Andrew, Catherine, and Marjorie together to run it by them. Although she tells them that if any of them object, she’ll cancel her Presidential plans, she refuses to budge even when Catherine breaks into tears and begs her not to run. She also invites Ben, who is working for Uber, over and asks him to along with her on her Omaha trip, but he figures out her plan quickly, and declines to be part of any potential campaign, citing the fact that she doesn’t have the party support nor the donors. After her visit, she decides that she wants to open her own Presidential Library, and wants Yale to be the location. Selina sits for her official Presidential portrait by a female artist named Helen Wright (June Diane Raphael). During the session Catherine and Marjorie break the news to Selina that they are going to be parents, but are currently in the phase of looking for a sperm donor. When Yale denies Selina the chance to host the Presidential Library, Selina decides to switch it up to her undergrad alma mater Smith College, so she goes to see the dean Regina Pell (Amy Brenneman), who claims to have had a one-night stand with Selina when they went to school together. Selina is also confronted for past indiscretions by an activist student named Renee Holt (Chelsea Laden) On their way to her library fundraiser, she hears a message on Andrew’s phone from the painter Helen, which alludes to the affair she is having with Andrew. Buddy again takes issues with these tactics, but it isn’t long before he’s embroiled in his own scandal, and he is caught drunk driving by a female officer (Rachael Seymour), whom he tries to expose himself to. In the light of Selina’s new controversy, it seems Smith College is pulling the plug on agreeing to host the library, so Selina tries to hit on Regina, only to be told that she is in a committed relationship. However, it is suggested that Selina might regain sympathy if she rehires Helen. She comes back to resume work on the painting, but when Selina gets wind that it is a hard no on using Smith, she throws Helen out again. She also throws Andrew out of the house, just as he was moving his stuff back in. Buddy tries to win his base back by publicly praying that he’ll learn to be more respectful of women. She and the team are accompanied by a military officer named Oleg Patradze (Peter Banifaz). No one makes Mike a reservation at the Tbilisi Grand Hotel, so he is stuck without a room. He and Gary also accidentally vote in the election, and get their thumbs dyed green as is customary to prevent voter fraud. Jonah is also sent to help oversee the election along with other members of the House. When Selina sees him, she threatens to ruin him for his role in the House vote. Amy claims on air that she prefers not to think of the politics, and confesses that she is happiest when she and Buddy can sit on the couch and watch Downton Abbey. This statement later leads to Buddy withdrawing from the race and announcing that he plans to Amy… who is nowhere to be find when he tries to bring her out for the audience of his supporters. On the way back home, Selina and her staff learn that before Murman can be sworn in, he is arrested by Oleg Patradze, who turned out to be running a coup against the government. Back at her office, she nearly reaches meltdown level and some of her staff and Catherine suggest therapy. Meanwhile, Dan gets upset with all of the news coverage implying a sexual affair between him and Jane McCabe. Mike is finally able to corner Selina and get her to buckle down and start writing her memoirs. Once they get into it, Selina starts having fun and getting along with Mike, and they stay up all night working. She agrees to sign a reference for his daughter to get into the exclusive Harper Day School. When Gary arrives that morning, he is clearly jealous that Mike and Selina are getting along so well. Ben and Kent spend their time coaching Jonah how to vote, but he is easily swayed if Shawnee wants him to vote differently. Selina gets furious at the inference, but he manages to talk her into meeting with her Uncle George (Brian Doyle-Murray). He gives even more information and tells her that her father died on top of his secretary. He also tells her that her father sold her horse. She and Mike get drunk and return to the barn where the horse used to be kept and begin destroying it with a bat and racket. Selina gets into her car and drive it through the barn. Dan finds out from Jane that it is her planting the stories about their supposed affair, just to appear young and relevant to the public so the much-younger anchor Brie Ramachandran (India de Beaufort) doesn’t get her job. Selina decides that she’s like to use her mother’s house for her Presidential Birthplace and Library, even though Catherine had been planning to live there with Marjorie and her family. Amy tells her that Sherman Tanz is all-in for funding it but wants a letter of recommendation to get his son in the Harper Day School. Selina has Mike turn over the application that he had been working on for his daughter and signs it for Tanz’s kid instead. Although Selina questions the impact of dating a Muslim, she returns to Jaffar on his yacht and gives him an update on the deal she is brokering with China to trade arms for minerals. Selina notes that President Lu is now speaking English again. He agrees to give Selina Tibet instead of giving it to President Montez as part of the deal. After the deal, Selina sees on TV that Montez is in Sudan, also meeting with Nyaring Ayun. However, she is criticized in America for doing anything to address the women’s rights issues that Ayun is fighting. Selina decides to return to Sudan in order to do so herself. During Jonah’s dinner with Furlong, he notes the difference that he behaves when his religious wife (Beth Littleford) is around. Selina returns to Juba, South Sudan to see Nyaring Ayun and tell her that unlike President Montez, she will speak on behalf of women’s rights at the Arab Conference on Human Rights in Doha. While she is reviewing this, Richard mentions that Catherine is having a baby, which is the first time she has actually heard it. Jaffar pulls Selina aside and tells her that Colonel al-Saleh is in attendance at the conference, and in fact is one of the sponsors of the event. He tells her that too strong of speech against him might scuttle the deal they brokered, including her getting credit for Tibet. Selina is then forced to go off the teleprompter and water down her speech to the point that it is benign. Selina visits Jaffar’s palace and finds out that the deal is off because al-Selah didn’t think Selina was enthusiastic enough. • Selina wins the New Hampshire primary, and heads to South Carolina to try and secure a victory there, although she is running through a black woman, Senator Kemi Talbot . Gary tries to get a promotion to a bigger role in the campaign, so Marjorie takes over as her attendant while Garry lobbies a religious group on Charleston. Meanwhile, Jonah comes in sixth place in the New Hampshire primary, so Amy advises him to start looking at selling his endorsement. Jonah’s mother and Beth’s father begin dating again. Gary takes charge of a Meyer Faith-Based Initiative in Charleston, where he meets their leader Blake Stein (Caleb Pierce), but he can’t figure out how to lead it, other than serving them food. Amy accompanies Jonah to see Selina and try to negotiate a position in her cabinet for her endorsement, but she laughs them off. Mike and Wendy lobby to get a second child from China, and the Premier of the State Counci Zhang Shengxi (Raymond Ma) asks Mike to get a message to Selina. While visiting the Dr. Jordan Thomas Memorial Youth Center in Charleston, Selina meets Jordan Thomas Jr. (Keegan-Michael Key) and asks for his endorsement, but he says that there is a black woman in the race. Amy takes Jonah to sit down with Senator Talbot to try and sell Jonah’s endorsement, and he once again makes a food of himself. Realizing that she won’t be getting much of the black vote, she decides to try and appeal to the non-college educated whites. Mike stops by to tell everyone about the new Chinese baby, and he delivers the message from Shengxi, stating that the Chinese President Lu is anxious to return to their conversation about the Diaoyu Islands. Ben and Kent explain to her that this is Lu’s way of offering to influence the election if she can get the United States to recognize the Diaoyu Islands as a Chinese territory. While Richard is chatting with Marjorie and Catherine from Lurlene, he witnesses a crop duster crash into 7-11 and helps save the lives of those involved.  Tom Jones arranges a meeting with Selina and offers his endorsement in exchange for becoming Secretary of State, but she won’t give that away just yet, although it doesn’t stop her from sleeping with him. Jonah meets with Buddy Calhoun to offer him an endorsement, but it turns out that Buddy was going to offer him the same thing. Tom James conducts a press conference and announces that he is dropping out of the race but refuses to endorse Selina or anyone else. Selina decides to take up the offer from Jordan Thomas to speak in his church, and then give a ‘dog whistle’ speech supporting the police, who recently shot an 8-year-old boy who was holding a chocolate bar that they mistook for a gun. Jonah goes to see Sherman Tanz, who insists that Jonah is still winning delegates and doesn’t want him to drop out as he can use him as bargaining power to enforce stricter marijuana laws, so he’ll have more drug prisoners in his prisons. Selina starts her speech in the church, and although she starts off by saying the police are the victims, she quickly shifts to sending a message to the Chinese government about the Diaoyu Islands. Mike does an interview on his McLinTALK podcast with Richard. Keith Quinn talks to Selina about the message she sent to the Chinese government and tells her that he consults with many clients from Asia, and just after this, Gary reports that the Faith-Based initiative received a donation for 25-million dollars from an anonymous source. Jonah holds a press conference and condemns his campaign staff, Amy, Teddy, and Bill, from trying to get him to exit the race. He also announces that math teachers are Muslim terrorists and manages to get the crowd cheering “No more math!” Bill and Teddy bail on the campaign, but Amy sticks with it and joins the chants. On the precipice of losing the primary, Selina laments to Ben that she sold her soul to the Chinese for 25-million dollars, but then hears on Fox news from the reporter (Courtney Friel) that 48,000 black voters had been turned away from the polls due to power outages in black areas. Mike then announces that he heard from Wendy that they are getting another baby from China. Selina acknowledges that the Chinese delivered for her as she wins South Carolina. After her victory party, she sleeps with Dan. The next morning when Marjorie tells her that her eyes look puffy, while Gary says she looks like she’s too young to run for president, Selina tells Marjorie that she’s out while Gary is back in. Keith tells Dan that he’s fired from the campaign and reminds him to read his non-disclosure agreement. Amy is interviewed on CNN by Greg Hart, where they tout that Jonah came in third place in the South Carolina primary. Hart says how much Jonah’s constant dishonesty scares him to death, and then promises viewers that they’ll cover his next rally in Youngstown, Ohio. GiGi Erneta is JoJo Weaver, the reporter who interviews Richard. 6/23/24
