When someone keeps showing up at collectors shows over and over again, sometimes I look for an excuse to get an autograph/photo op so that I can be done with it. Tony Todd is one such example. I had seen him on several occasions at shows, and at one point I found out that he had a relatively small part in an episode of Smallville. The only problem was that he didn’t have any photos from that show for sale. Clearly he is most famous for his horror connection as the namesake of the film Candyman, as well as starring in two different remakes of Night of the Living Dead, and for his recurring role in the Final Destination films.
But ultimately it was the fact that he starred as Sgt. Warren in the Oscar winning Best Picture of 1986 Platoon. Stars of Best Pictures have long been on my bucket list of encounters, so this completely justified plunking down the $30 for a signed photo from that particular film when he appeared at the Days of the Dead event in Indianapolis, Indiana on July 17, 2013.
The photo op was included in the price and he was nice enough to pose for a picture with Carolyn as well.
And now I don’t have to see him again…as long as I don’t look in the mirror and say “Candyman” five times…
Celebrity encounters from the 2013 Indianapolis Days of the Dead will continue…
