dt7Had it not been for the film Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, I likely would not have been interested in getting autographs and photo ops with the two leads in its cast. The film had initially been recommended on Leonard Maltin’s website, and I could not figure out for the life of me what could be so great about it, but once I saw it I understood. If you’re in for a bloody good time – and I do mean bloody – then I recommend this movie highly, because unlike most films of this nature, its utterly hilarious (in the good way). If you don’t believe me, check it out for yourself.

Carolyn and I had actually watched this film not long before the two leads appeared at the HorrorHound event in Cincinnati on March 23, 2014, so I was naturally a bit excited to meet them and added them to my list right away.

The first one we met was Tyler Labine, who had starred as Dale Dobson. Although he has a pretty impressive list of credits, the only thing I had seen him in was Zack and Miri Make a Porno, and his role was pretty small in that. Since then I’ve seen him in Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

dt3

Although Tyler had shared equal screen credit and time with his counterpart, he was smart enough to know that he wasn’t quite as well-known and thus his price of $30, although pricey, was still ten bucks cheaper than Alan Tudyk’s.

dt2

Alan played Tucker McGee, but his greatest claim to fame – that I guess justified his $40 price tag, if it can be justified – was that he played the leading role of Wash in Firefly. That didn’t particularly interest me, but his line-up of other film and TV appearances did.

dt4

On the big screen, he had starred in Patch Adams, did a few of the voices in Ice Age, starred as Steve the Pirate in Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, and been in Knocked Up, 3:10 to Yuma, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and I, Robot. But his biggest claim to fame might end up being the fact that he provided the voice of the Duke of Weselton in the Disney phenomenon Frozen.

dt6

And still I was probably most interested that he had starred in an episode of Frasier as well as three episodes of Arrested Development.

dt5

Interestingly I’ve noticed that Alan Tudyk has been doing quite a few autograph shows, while Tyler Labine’s appearances have been pretty limited. In any case, it was fun to meet his pair, and please let me know what you think if I’ve convinced you to check out Tucker & Dale vs. Evil.
