Edward Herrmann has starred in a variety of film and television. TV appearances range from M*A*S*H to Wings to Grey’s Anatomy – and films from The Paper Chase to Factory Girl. But the most memorable roles to me were as Franklin Roosevelt in Annie (a role he was reprising six years after playing FDR in a made-for-TV movie about the President’s life), and mostly as Max the vampire boyfriend in The Lost Boys. In fact, it is that role I remember most – and it scares me a little.
My time came to meet Mr. Herrmann was on October 2, 2005 when I caught up with him after his reading of Casablanca (more details here). He had the pivotal role of Captain Renault (yes, I’ve finally seen and re-thought my opinions of the film since writing my initial posting about the play). Our meeting was not that memorable. He was polite enough to pose with me and sign my program, but nothing else from our encounter really sticks out. Except he was wearing a baseball cap. And he did not bite my neck.

The celebs of the Casablanca reading will continue…
And Gilmore Girls, don’t forget that, it’s one of Ash & my favorites!

He was great as Max. Lost Boys is one of my favorite 80’s films of all time! The only “Coreys” movie I’m not ashamed to say that I like.
