Dad decided to take Denise and me on a vacation during July of 1991. He had always been fond of the white sands of the Florida panhandle so we decided on a stay in Panama City Beach. We brought along our cousin Susan to help keep Denise occupied. I can’t remember a whole heck of a lot about the trip except I was anxious to get away for a week. Christi had moved into our house temporarily and even though I left for the week, she was mostly staying there with Ashleigh. We stayed at an older motel right on the beach called the Admiral Imperial. I met two young blonde girls at the indoor pool late in the week. We hung out for a couple of days before we had to leave. I can’t recall their names, but I know I behaved myself. Even though Christi and I were having some issues, I still maintained my loyalty. Also, one of them feared she might be pregnant. I gave her my address and told her to keep in touch and let me know how things worked out, but I never heard from her.

The other major thing I recall about this trip was that we ventured into the tiny, quaint town of Seaside. This was quite an interesting place in that every home in the nieghborhood was required to be painted in a specific pastel color. There were lots of little shops and restaurants there to enjoy as well. I liked this place so well that I took my wife Lisa here to see the area during our Florida trip of 1997.

Dad was heavily into his artistic photography during the trip so he gathered a series of lovely slides of the beach and the surrounding scenery. Some are included here along with all of the shots that us three kids appear in.

1991 will continue with the next vacation…
Are you sure your dad was there? No pictures of Larry! Maybe the 3 of you went on a summer trip, parent free…..
How do you keep all your pictures so organized? I try but I have boxes and boxes of pictures, and when I want to find something it’s never there.

I remember that vacation well. I thought I was finally going to have one whole week without my kids – just “me” time – no responsibility. No such luck – my kids were gone, but Christi and Ashleigh were there. I had to help Christi out of a situation when one of her friends called me late at night. Gone was the idea of no responsibility for a whole week!
