bw.jpgBetty White is one of the most recognizable friendly faces in all of televisiondom. As a star of The Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Golden Girls, she has won the hearts of millions. Those were great roles for her and great shows, but probably the most important role to me was her turn as Bob Newhart’s boss on the short-lived TV show Bob. I have never actually written to Betty White, but I did purchase the cheap signed photo of her seen at right from a dealer in 1998.

I wasn’t expecting to meet Betty White on October 2, 2005, but when I saw her standing there minding her own business getting ready to enter the Pantages Theatre for the Actors Fund reading of Casablanca, it jumped at the chance to get my photo taken with her. She wasn’t overly friendly, but she did accept my invitation to smile for the camera, and beamed a warm grin – making it look as if we were old friends.

  1. And, don’t forget that Betty White was also a game show legend. She was well-known for her participation on the Match Game, Password Plus and Super Password (and others…). She even appeared on the very last episode of Super Password (and broke the “magic toaster”)!

  2. Betty White rocks so much!!
