When I was a boy about five or six years old, my Mom used to take me to the movies to see the ‘latest’ installment of the Pippi Longstocking films. It was probably only once or twice, but it seemed like we went to see them a lot. I loved Pippi and her sense of frivolity, and I’ve since reconnected with the movies via DVD and had some vivid memories and some of the scenes, and still enjoyed the whimsical fun. I didn’t know it then of course, but interestingly these were actually Swedish TV series episodes from the late 1960’s that had been strung together. I would love to meet the original Pippi, Inger Nilsson, as well as the actor and actress who played the young Tommy and Annika, but so far that has yet to be.

By 1988, Pippi was just a nostalgic memory from my past. So when the American film The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking came out that year, I had no interest whatsoever. Naturally there was a new girl playing Pippi. Her named was Tami Erin and she was a few years younger than me, so I, being about 16 took no notice of this 12 or 13 year old girl.

But things change. And when I met Tami Erin on October 25, 2014, I certainly took notice. While I admittedly already had her on my list since she had played the iconic character albeit not in the original films, I most likely would have gotten her even if she hadn’t been… because Pippi had become devastatingly attractive.

I didn’t really know about the sex tape or the nude modeling or anything like that, but I saw some pretty revealing photos on her page. Yet being a pretty clean-cut guy, I still went with the $25 Pippi photo and threw in an extra $5 for a photo op, which she happily posed for Carolyn and me.

Lest you think I’m being lascivious to point out her obvious assets, later on in the day Carolyn shelled out an additional ten bucks for us both to get additional photos with her, now adorned in her supposedly original Pippi Longstocking shirt, which quite obviously didn’t really fit all that well any longer… with ‘well’ being a somewhat relative term.

In any case, I’ve now met one of the two Pippi’s and although it would be far more nostalgic and cool to meet the one of my youth, I can assure you that this one was quite fun and ‘whimsical’ as well.

Um, yeah.
