helHeather Langenkamp was best known for her role as Nancy Thompson in the ever-popular and imaginative slasher film Nightmare on Elm Street. She went on to star in the franchise’s first real sequel to follow the film’s storyline (discounting the idiotic second installment), Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. And then she appeared again in the series’ most interesting installment Wes Craven’s New Nightmare in which she actually played herself being stalked by the spirt of good old Freddy Kruger.

Outside of the Nighmare films, Heather didn’t have too lucrative of a career although she starred to some success in the sitcom Just the Ten of Us, played in a few episodes of Growing Pains, and portrayed another Nancy in another ‘horror’ film…this time as Nancy Kerrigan (whom she strongly resembles) in the TV movie Tonya and Nancy: The Inside Story.

I met Heather Langenkamp at the Hollywood Collectors Show in Burbank on October 4, 2008. Being a child of the 80’s, I gladly plunked down the $20 for the interesting signed photo above and another $10 to get a photo or two with her. She played along to my Freddy fingers with a horrified look. Nice gal  she was. I wouldn’t have had the heart to slash her.

Almost as menacing as Freddy himself!
