The Living Tinkerbell

Perhaps you’re wondering how a real life actress can get the credit as playing Tinkerbell in the 1953 Walt Disney animated classic Peter Pan, especially since Tinkerbell didn’t talk in the film. Well here’s how: In the early days of Disney animation, live actors were hired to pantomime the movements of their on-screen counterparts. Margaret Kerry was the actress who was tapped to be old Tink. But to solidify her presence in the actual film, she also provided the voice of one of the red-headed mermaid in the Neverland lagoon. I aimlessly roamed through the Spring of 1992. College student, father, partier, opportunist, music buff, Brady Bunch fan, Robert DeNiro idolizer, Kroger bagger, Laserdisc player owner. That was me. It was back to the drawing board of figuring out life after I had come to the conclusion that the job offer from Keith had been a hoax. The Lovely Della Lind

Although I had met Della Lind, leading lady from the Laurel and Hardy feature Swiss Miss, six years prior (at the Hollywood ’80 convention, seen here), I had never gotten her to sign a photo for me – just her signature in my little blue autograph book. So following the 1986 Valley Forge convention – and my re-immersion in all things Laurel and Hardy – the first autograph request I sent out after I had returned from the trip was to Della Lind. I had picked up three great photos and was anxious to add Della to my big fat photo album that was quickly filling up with signed pictures. Read the rest of this entry »

Margaret O’Brien

In her day, Margaret O’Brien was one of the most popular child actors of the silver screen. She began her career in an uncredited role in Babes On Broadway in 1941 at the age of four. Margaret’s career reached its zenith in 1943 and 1944 when she starred in such classics as Madame Curie, Jane Eyre, and her most famous role, Meet Me in St. Louis with Judy Garland.
