Plains, Trains, and Americus on Wheels

Continuing with Ashleigh’s and my Georgia trip in July, 2006… It soon became apparent to us that it was not the wisest of moves to take the pre-convention trip on Monday, July 10. If you remember, we had left Plains on Sunday afternoon, drove to Warm Springs, and then made the lengthy jaunt across Georgia to Augusta…only to get up early the next morning to get on a bus and drive all the way back to Plains! The Little White House

Sunday, October 8th, 2006

After leaving Plains this past summer, Ashleigh, Bob, and I made our way to northwest Georgia to visit the Little White House in Warm Springs. This house was built for Franklin Roosevelt in 1932 after he had come to this town to experience the naturally warm flowing waters that were soothing to his polio-stricken body. Maranatha 2

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006

There are always other visitors in line from out of town to strike up conversations with. Read the rest of this entry »

“The Wax Apple” Goes Live

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006

waxapple.jpgLast night, Jimmy and I completed about one month’s worth of work on our Laurel and Hardy website “The Wax Apple.” It is likely that most people will be linking to this website from there, but I’m giving you the opportunity to have it the other way around. Even if you don’t like Laurel and Hardy, you should check out the color scheme we came up with. Jimmy did an outstanding job of designing this extremely attractive site. You can find it at www.waxapple.org .

Heeeere’s Tiny!

Sunday, October 1st, 2006

tiny1.jpgTiny is one of the most incredible and unique cats I’ve ever had the pleasure to own. She was born on Sept. 9, 2005 and was named Anakin Beard by her foster parents. This adorable kitten came into my life when I was shopping for kittens to give to Ashleigh for Christmas. She was in a tiny cage with her two siblings at the SICSA animal shelter. Although she was soundly sleeping, I asked if I could remove her from the cage. Immediately, she passed my first criteria of a perfect cat by beginning to purr.

Next, I set her atop an eye-level cat tower to look her over and see how she responded to me. She quietly stared at me and then took her paw and gently removed my glasses from my face. That did it – I had to have her! Read the rest of this entry »
