The World of Sid & Marty Krofft

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

When I first wrote this posting that was originally titled “The World of Marty Krofft,” I stated that I was hoping that one day I might be able to change the title of this posting to “The World of Sid & Marty Krofft.” This was the name of a short-lived amusement park that the famous sibling producers helped design in Atlanta. In fact, both brothers were slated to appear at the July 18, 2009, Hollywood Show in Burbank – but unfortunately Sid had to cancel out. Marty made his appearance, with the money he was charging for signed photos going to charity. As you’ll note in the update below, however, I eventually did have reason to change the title.   Read the rest of this entry »

Tia Carrere – Nani

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

When I attended the Hollywood Celebrity Show in Chicago on Saturday, October 18, 2009, Tia Carrere wasn’t on my list of celebrities to gather an autograph from or a photo with. Oh, I knew she was there, I just had no interest. But when I realized that she was one of the main voices heard in the recent Disney animated classic Lilo & Stitch, I changed my tune right then and there. Tia is actually best known for her role in the inane comedy Wayne’s World, which I had seen – but practically forgotten. Read the rest of this entry »

Mildred’s Autograph Book – Part 3

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

The final installment of the autograph book that I acquired from former Our Gang member Mildred Kornman in 2005, if not the most valuable third of the book, is certainly the most interesting. What is also interesting is that there are two pages at the end of the signatures that have been torn out, as well as one in the midst of the signed pages. I asked Mildred if she recalled what these might have been. It makes the imagination run wild, or some celeb might have needed a piece of scrap paper. All part of the fun and mystery of early Hollywood. Read the rest of this entry »

Christmas Newsletter 2005

Sunday, February 21st, 2010

The newsletter that Carolyn, Ashleigh, and I (with special assistance from Briana) put together for Christmas 2005 was the last one that would include the original ABC Crew. It was a rather difficult one to write, especially where the introduction was concerned. As always, I wrote this intro, and I wanted to convey a sense of ‘we’re not a perfect family’ – even if we were in the midst of trying to work on it. With all of the beating we had taken as a family, I think we all were able to put a positive spin on this, our third Christmas Newsletter. Read the rest of this entry »

Desperately Seeking Rosanna Arquette

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

I’ve had a crush on Rosanna Arquette since I first saw her quirky beauty in Amazon Women on the Moon. Her appearance in Playboy was on my mind during my 1990 vacation to Sebastian, Florida – although when I finally saw it, I was mildly disappointed. But the one thing that clinched her position as a gleaming star in my mind was her role in one of my favorite films Pulp Fiction. She portrayed Jody, the pierced companion of Eric Stoltz during Uma Thurman’s heroin overdose scene. Read the rest of this entry »
