You Bet Your Bibby Babkas!

It wasn’t cheap by any means, but another of the many highlights of the Chiller Theatre show was getting the chance to meet Bronson Pinchot on October 27, 2012. For a short time, I though the show Perfect Strangers was utter tripe, but soon I was lulled into its journey into ridiculousness as the uptight Larry Appleton (played by Mark Linn-Baker) did his utmost to tolerate his long lost ‘cousin’ from the fictional island of Mypos, Balki Bartokomous. I think anyone who religiously watched the show couldn’t help but get taken in by and repeat the many catch phrases from this pair: watch and learn, get out of the city, you bet your bibby babkas, and don’t be ridiculous. Let me start out by saying that it was a big deal for me to meet Andrew McCarthy at the Chiller Theatre Show on October 12, 2012. It is true that it was one of many great celebrity encounters, but in retrospect this was quite a biggie. For a child of the 80’s such as me, meeting a member of the Brat Pack is beyond cool (this is my second meeting with a member of the exclusive group following 
I’ve had one of those lifelong flirtations with the TV series Dallas for many years now. I’ve amassed quite a few celebrity encounters from the show – including two of its top stars 
Darn that Superman! Sometimes I feel like my hands are tied when it comes to celebrity encounters when it relates to that franchise. I was excited to see that Callum Blue was going to be attending the Hollywood Show when I was there on Saturday, August 4, 2012. He had portrayed General Zod in 13 episodes in the greatest Superman series of all time, Smallville. He did it well and all, but not well enough that I was going to shell out his asking price without putting up a fight worthy of the caped superhero himself. 
There are three things that Tab Hunter is known for in my world, but one of them – perhaps his most famous – I’ve never actually seen or heard. For starters, Tab Hunter had a song that topped the Billboard charts in 1957, and with that I’m quite familiar. The song is Young Love and it’s actually a stand-out for that year that was dominated by Elvis Presley. I can almost guarantee that the second thing I remember him for is not one that he’d care to remember so much. It’s that oldie but no-goodie film Grease 2 that played ad nauseam in my house in the mid-1980’s, so much so that I began to actually love it. He played Mr. Stuart and took part in my favorite silly song romp Reproduction. His role was actually quite delightful in his pent up sexual frustration of Miss Mason, played by Connie Stevens, whom I’ve also met.
