Michael Myers Is Everywhere

Monday, November 25th, 2013

mm1In case you’re keeping tally (or am I the only one?) of how many actors who have portrayed serial killer Michael Myers in the Halloween series of film that I’ve met, so far I’ve shared fourof them. The first two (Nick Castle and Will Sandin), who starred in the first film can be seen here. Dick Warlock (from the second film) and Tyler Mane from the Rob Zombie retool of the series can be seen here. That still leaves a smattering of actors who have starred in some of the lesser sequels in the series. And since bad things…or deaths…always come in threes, that’s how many I’ll be sharing today. The Many Faces of Rip Taylor

Monday, November 25th, 2013

rip3Some people get famous and you’re not exactly sure why. All I know is that as soon as I saw that Rip Taylor was announced to appear at the Hollywood Show on August 4, 2012, he immediately went on my list of people I had to have. Although for me, it’s hard to put a finger on what he’s actually done (game shows for sure), he does have some interesting credits: a regular on The Brady Bunch Variety Hour, a couple of appearances on The Monkees, The Sid & Marty Krofft Saturday morning offering Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, and of course Hollywood Squares and Match Game. Another Jolly Holly Encounter

Friday, November 22nd, 2013

hmc4I became enamored with the TV drama Picket Fences upon first seeing it in 1992. By extension I also developed a bit of a crush on two of the female leads in the show, Lauren Holly and Holly Marie Combs. The latter played the Brock family’s eldest daughter Kimberly. Little did I know that 20 years after our introduction on television, I’d get the opportunity meet both of them. I’ve already covered my encounter with Lauren Holly here. My first meeting with Holly Marie Combs actually came earlier. Read the rest of this entry »

Maude’s Girl

Thursday, November 21st, 2013

maude2The fact that she was in a slew of horror films – The Fog, The Swamp Thing, Creepshow – (heck, she was even married to horror director John Carpenter for five years!), makes her an ideal guest for any of the myriad of horror shows cropping up all over the country. She was also in a batch of notable films such as Escape from New York (again, Carpenter), The Cannonball Run, and even the most recent Oscar winner, Argo. And she’d star as a guest in a plethora of TV shows from the 70’s to the present day. But with me it always came back to the sitcom. Read the rest of this entry »

This Time It’s The Hudsons

Thursday, November 21st, 2013

hudsonx1Sometimes I just get one of those feelings that if I bypass a celebrity at an autograph show, I’ll come to regret it. In fact, there are numerous celebrities out there that I wish I had had that feeling – long after it was too late. The Hudson Brothers didn’t even make the cut onto my ‘maybe’ list quite simply because I had never, ever heard of them. And it’s little wonder really; even as a consummate music fan and collector, I wasn’t all that familiar with stars of the early and mid-1970’s, especially if they neither cracked the end of the year Top 100, nor ever had a number one hit.
