Little Joey Lawrence No More

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2012

I’ve thus far done quite a bit of complaining about the celebrities at the Wizard World Comic Con in Chicago whom I got the chance to meet on August 11, 2012. When it was Joey Lawrence’s chance to meet me, I only had one complaint really. He was too bronze. That is to say, I was okay with paying the $40 autograph fee (which although high, was at least in the correct stratosphere), and I was very happy that this included a free photo with him, but it just didn’t look like the Joey Lawrence whom I used to know. Yeoman Janice Rand, Fifth Beatle of Star Trek

Saturday, October 20th, 2012

You’ve heard of the so-called Fifth Beatle, a designation that could be shared by any number of individuals (but hopefully not Yoko) who weren’t part of the crux of the Fab Four, but may have been right on the cusp. It will be even longer until I’d get to the fifth season of it, if in fact it ever gets released on DVD (the fourth is scheduled for later in 2012). Of interest in the aforementioned fifth and final season is that this was when Lynn Borden became a regular cast member. Read the rest of this entry »

The Bad Guys of Christine

Monday, October 15th, 2012

If you’ve seen the horror flick Christine, or read the original novel by Stephen King, you’d probably say that the antagonist of the story is the 1958 Plymouth Fury, who comes to life and make the world a living hell for anyone who gets in her path. However, I maintain that the real bad guys of the story were the bullies from Arnie’s school, who eventually become prey to Christine themselves. It was because of their ill treatment that Arnie went ballistic and turned to Christine to be his protector. That’s the way I see it anyway. Read the rest of this entry »

I’m (With) The King of the World

Saturday, October 6th, 2012

Whether you think the 1997 James Cameron feature film version of Titanic is an unequaled masterpiece or that it sunk like…well, the Titanic, you can’t deny that it has earned its place as a massive icon of pop culture. I happened to like it despite some of its shortcomings, and thus, if I get a chance to meet someone in the film, I take it. Danny Nucci isn’t quite the household name that Leonardo DiCaprio is, but nevertheless his character Fabrizio De Rossi is right there alongside of him when they board the Titanic together at the beginning of the film, earning his place in film – and Oscar – history.
