Dean Stockwell

Wednesday, April 11th, 2012

Dean Stockwell was a good celebrity to meet. I’ve been curious about his career ever since I saw that he had starred as a young man in an episode of the original Twilight Zone (A Quality of Mercy). I had no idea at that point exactly what he went on to do. Eventually I learned. Actually by the time he was in the Twilight Zone, he was already somewhat a veteran of the silver screen, having begun his career years earlier as a boy of nine. Some of his early roles included Anchors Aweigh, Abbott and Costello in Hollywood, and Gentleman’s Agreement. Read the rest of this entry »

Just One of the Fans

Tuesday, April 10th, 2012

Just One of the Guys was one of those teen movies of the mid-80’s that didn’t quite rise up to the quality of the John Hughes films of the era, but was still quite fun nonetheless. Considering that the movie poster itself pictures a topless, sexy Joyce Hyser, I think that most adolescent boys were hoping for a bit more raunchiness than the film ended up having, but in the end, the film stayed more accesible to the teen mainstream by keeping a PG-13 rating. Little Debbie

Saturday, March 31st, 2012

I have always want to have a posting titled that. This was my one chance. However, I must warn you that in no way involves the deliciousness of the Nutty Bars, Oatmeal Creme Pies, or Star Crunches that we all grew up with – and if you didn’t, I feel very, very sorry for you. Ahem… back to reality. Or rather, this celebrity encounter with Debbie Lee Carrington. She’s a little person, hence the posting title. But not just a little peson, but an actress and stunt woman who has made appearances in a variety of TV shows and films. Read the rest of this entry »

Eric Shea

Saturday, March 31st, 2012

I always enjoy meeting former child actors – even if I’m not all that familiar with their work, as was the case with Eric Shea. Bob had told me that he had been waiting quite a while to get him to sign his material from The Poseidon Adventure, so he was happy that he had finally surfaced for a show. When I met him at the Hollywood Show on October 8, 2011, this was his second appearance there. This time he was present as part of the big Batman reunion going on at that show, since he had starred in a couple of episodes. Read the rest of this entry »

The Hair Twirler

Tuesday, March 27th, 2012

It wasn’t all that long before we got to meet her that Jamie was twirling her hair and asking what film it was that she recalled a girl twirling her hair in the same fashion. It soon dawned on her that it was in fact the character of Linda, who dumped on the hero Robby (portrayed by Adam Sandler) in The Wedding Singer. So when it just so happened that Angela Featherstone, the actress who had played Linda, was going to be appearing at the Chicago Hollywood Celebrities Show on October 1, 2011, I was excited that Jamie would get the chance to meet her.
