It’s Their Move

Monday, December 14th, 2015

iym3I wouldn’t be so silly to try and make the case that the obscure TV show It’s Your Move carries the same kind of quality or weight as, let’s say, the films of Laurel and Hardy. No sir, not by a long stretch. But here’s the thing: somehow this little show that ran for just 18 episodes in 1984-1985 has taken on some serious acreage in my landscape of nostalgic loves.  In that regard, the show has become just as sacred as the masterwork films of Laurel & Hardy. Therefore it would stand to reason that like actors from the Laurel & Hardy films, the actors from It’s Your Move are highly sought out by me when it comes to celebrity encounters.  Of course considering that the TV show was made just over 30 years ago, and the L&H films were made roughly 75-85 years ago, meeting the IYM actors hasn’t quite taken on the same urgency. meadows2It isn’t all that easy meeting celebrities in Dayton, Ohio. poohI’m not much into modern Disney animation outside the canonical feature films, so I typically haven’t done much to pursue many of the voice artists who provide the dialogue for the current TV and movies featuring the classic characters. Case in point: you might recall my great autographed Winnie the Pooh photo that had been signed by many of the earlier set of voice actors. But even so, voice actor Jim Cummings is a bit hard to pass up, especially when you take a glance at his voice characterization resume.  Read the rest of this entry »

The Stinger Makes a Splash

Wednesday, October 21st, 2015

sting1Despite the fact that I never really thought that the wrestler Steve Borden, better known as Sting, really has that dynamic of a personality, there was always something enigmatic and appealing about him. The fact that he was so infrequently portrayed as a heel would seem to make him even less interesting, but that was never the case. Even in his early days when he featured a more upbeat Ultimate Warrior-type make up, he still had appeal as a member of The Four Horsemen and frequent partner to Lex Luger. Maybe it was that he reminded me of my Uncle Bob… Read the rest of this entry »
