Platoon Candyman

tt2When someone keeps showing up at collectors shows over and over again, sometimes I look for an excuse to get an autograph/photo op so that I can be done with it. Tony Todd is one such example. I had seen him on several occasions at shows, and at one point I found out that he had a relatively small part in an episode of Smallville. The only problem was that he didn’t have any photos from that show for sale. Clearly he is most famous for his horror connection as the namesake of the film Candyman, as well as starring in two different remakes of Night of the Living Dead, and for his recurring role in the Final Destination films. Let the CHiP Fall Where He May

jon2In this case it was at the Chiller Theatre show in Parsippany, New Jersey on April 27, 2013. I had incorrectly assumed that Larry Wilcox, who played Jonathan “Jon” Baker opposite Erik Estrada as Ponch in the TV motorcycle cop series CHiPs. It would have seemed like a no-brainer that he would have been at a show or two, especially one where Estrada was appearing. But this show just ended up being the first one that he had been asked to – at least according to him. And right away he was clearly in the swing of some rather expensive pricing: $25 for an autograph, $15 for a photo with him. But there was no way that I wasn’t going to complete the set. gj3It’s hard to believe that 2014 saw me meeting more newly discovered members of the Our Gang than any year since 1980. Of course the Sons of the Desert convention in Hollywood this summer solidified that, and that record probably would have stood had I not met any more this year. After all, the chances of running into Dickie Moore or Annie Ross in New York were very slim, and since I didn’t plan any further trips to Hollywood, I had absolutely no reason to think I’d meet any more.
