German Friday: Bavarian Castles and Munich

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

mu20x.jpgI was a bit disappointed when I got up the morning of Friday, July 18, 2008. It wasn’t that bad taking a shower in the bathroom with the glass door in our little room at the Hotel Kurcafe in Füssen, Germany…but I was a bit distressed when I went downstairs to use the internet only to find that the laptop that was there the night before had been disconnected. The girl preparing breakfast had no idea where it was. I soon got over it though when I noticed the magnificent breakfast spread that she was in the middle of arranging. Tommy Kirk: Old Yeller Meets Young Feller

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

tommykirk2.jpgTommy Kirk was the quintessential Disney child actor from the mid-1950’s to the mid-1960’s. His first big claim to fame was his role in The Hardy Boys series as part of The Mickey Mouse Club when he played Joe Hardy in The Mystery of the Applegate Treasure (1956), and then followed it up with another Hardy Boys series called The Mystery of the Ghost Farm (1957). Later in 1957, he starred as Travis, the older of the brothers in the Disney classic Old Yeller. Read the rest of this entry »

Disneyland Paris – Day Three

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

des6.jpgIt was rather difficult to be gung-ho for our last morning and afternoon at Disneyland Paris after the long and treacherous day of walking that we had experienced the day before. Nevertheless, troopers that we were, The Wileys, David, and I all got up early and traipsed over for the morning breakfast buffet bright and early on Tuesday, July 15, 2008. This time it was located in a different banquet area than the previous morning. The food was the same though – and just as delicious. Read the rest of this entry »

hl11.jpgOne nice thing about being on California time is that – despite the incredibly long day I spent on Saturday – I was up bright and early on Sunday morning, October 5, 2008, having felt as if I had slept in even though it was only 7am. This left me plenty of time to get ready and load my stuff back into Bob’s car – and still make our breakfast meeting at 9am. Bob and I meandered down to the restaurant in the Marriott hotel lobby area for a nice big breakfast buffet. Generally, almost all of the celebrities from the Hollywood Collectors Show stay in the hotel – and we spotted a few of the in the restaurant. Among them was Margaret Kerry, who was not only in the restaurant, but sitting at our table and eating with us. Read the rest of this entry »

Disneyland Paris – Day Two

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

3c.jpgI came back to the land of the living at an early hour after a restless night of sleep in an uncomortable bed next to another man on the morning of Monday, July 14, 2008. But other than that, life was good. And how could it not be when I had a day at Paris Disneyland and a visit to the city of Paris ahead of me that day? After getting ready, we dragged ourselves to the Cape Cod room in the our Newport Bay Club hotel for a nice breakfast buffet. Just like the Avifauna, Disney had a huge complimentary European breakfast buffet prepared for us  – full of lunchmeats, cheeses, croissants (both regular and chocolate), fruit, and yogurt. It was an outstanding way to start the day. Read the rest of this entry »
