What Happens in Vegas…’09

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

da16After driving all morning toward our destination on Sunday, July 12, 2009, the first thing that Bob and I did was obvious when we arrived in Las Vegas around noon: find an all-you-can eat sushi bar. We chose The Sushi Factory, the same spot we had previously enjoyed during our 2007 visit to Las Vegas. It was just as good as I remembered as we scarfed down the various delicacies. I mostly stuck to the expensive specialty rolls – which made up for the reasonable $21.95 lunch fee. Amidst the volcano, caterpillar, 310, the dynamite, and the myriad of deep fried, eel sauce doused raw fish, I was one happy camper. Still I didn’t quite stuff myself the way had during my previous visit. Read the rest of this entry »

California ’09 – L.A. and Eastward

Saturday, August 1st, 2009

dc6I had spent ample time the night before getting ready for my Summer 2009 California journey, having packed all of my clothes, assembled celebrity photos that I needed to bring along, and had all of my incidentals ready to go. However, on the morning of Saturday, July 11, I made an almost near-fatal faux pas which almost wrecked the whole thing. I had set my alarm for 4:20 am with plans to head to my Dad’s house at 5:00, leave his place by 5:30, and arrive at the airport by 6am for my 7am departure. It was all mapped out and it seemed like a bulletproof plan. Read the rest of this entry »

df21I may have a hard time convincing you otherwise, but contrary to popular belief I am not a cemetery lurking kind of guy. That was just a rumor started by all of the photos on this website of me with various graves across the country. But honestly, I get no morbid fascination about cemeteries, no yearning to see the grave of just anyone remotely famous, and have no interest in talking to most of the dead people lying under the sod. So why do you frequently find pictures of me with stone slabs engraved with the names of the famous? Read the rest of this entry »

The Many Faces of Terry Moore

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

terrymoore3Those who know me well will have no problem in guessing what it is about Terry Moore that has me the most captivated. True, she has a very interesting personal tale of how she had been secretly married to philanthropist, aviator, and all around intriguing guy Howard Hughes. Although documents detailing the supposed 1949 marriage never materialized, the Hughes estate awarded her a settlement. But this isn’t the reason that I’m interested in Terry Moore. Going Ape Over Booth Colman

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

booth2Booth Colman doesn’t really have an instantly recognizable face. And that may be because his most famous role was that of Dr. Zaius in full ape regalia in Planet of the Apes. But Mr. Colman has had a rather lucrative career as a character actor in a slew of over 150 film and TV appearances. Most recently he has twice appeared as a judge in two of the Coen Brothers’ The Man Who Wasn’t There and Intolerable Cruelty. Read the rest of this entry »
