Thursday, December 31st, 2015Laurel and Hardywood Day 3: The Our Gang Reunion and Another Trivia Victory
Monday, August 31st, 2015I’ll admit it. I’ll admit it. I wanted to win the trivia contest this year. We were tracking to win every other convention… and anytime we participated… and I wanted to keep it that way. David, Peter, and I had claimed our first victory back in 2006 in Augusta, Georgia. Then in 2008 the Europeans changed it up and made it some strange single player event in a circle in the middle of a banquet or something. In 2010 our team re-grouped and won again in Sacramento. In 2012 we felt a little snubbed as once again it was taken over by other hosts who hand-picked two-person teams while the former champs – us – sat idly by and watched. “Two Minutes to Go!”: Catching Up with Joan Del Mar

I titled the article the exact same thing that I titled this posting. Read the rest of this entry »
Laurel and Hardywood Day 2: Hollenbeck Park and the Hollywood Museum
Tuesday, June 9th, 2015The second day of our Laurel & Hardywood adventures was Thursday, July 3, 2015. David and I were able to get up bright and early at his place, get ready, and get over to the Loew’s hotel by 7:30am. It was imperative again that we were on time as the buses were scheduled to leave at 8am. There were four buses that would be running simultaneously, two of which would start off on one track, and the other two on another. I was hosting Bus #4 “Alf” and David had agreed to help the bus driver navigate. He also gave me interesting tidbits to point out along the way. The two Jimmys were on Bus #3 “Bert” (the buses so named after Laurel & Hardy’s twin brothers in their film Our Relations). The “Bert” and “Alf” buses would be crossing paths and meeting up with their counterparts “Stan” and “Ollie” for lunch. Read the rest of this entry »
