The Last Day At Sea

Saturday, April 9th, 2011

My Mom, Bob, and I had seen some busy days. We had toured Miami, Key West, and Cozumel. I had even more frenetic traveling coming up at the end of the trip. So it was nice to have one nice, full day to spend dripping around the Imagination cruise ship and doing little to expend much energy on our final day at sea: Thursday, February 10, 2011. I started off the day about as leisurely as possible, by sleeping in, grabbing breakfast, and lazing around the cabin for a few hours, then summoning the energy to shower and get  into my swim trunks and make my way to the pool area for two hours of laying out, catching some serious rays, and listening to the iPod. Good news for those who love the Disney park postings: here’s another two-parter. And good news for those who don’t: this will likely be the last Disney park posting of the year. Even though we were still in the first quarter of 2011, I had already spent some time at Disneyland in February. So for this visit, I decided to go a little more ‘in-depth’ and hit some rides that were more unique to this park, mostly in the Fantasyland area. Being with Disneyphiles Jimmy and David, there were always interesting things to be pointed out at this magical place where the Disney theme parks first originated. Read the rest of this entry »

Cozumel 2011

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

It had been nearly fifteen years since I had stepped foot on Mexican soil, and oddly enough it had been in the Mexican island of  Cozumel then as well. As our cruise was following the same pattern as we had gone during the 1996 Laurel and Hardy Cruise, we docked in Cozumel the day after Key West on this one as well. Mom, Bob, and I had looked into doing a couple of different things while in Cozumel on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 – among them a sunset pontoon party and the scuba and margarita offering that Mom (along with Denise and Jon had done in ’96), but since we were unsure of the weather, we opted to not pay for any extra events while in Cozumel. But this didn’t stop us from having a good time one bit. Read the rest of this entry »

Key West 2011

Saturday, March 19th, 2011

Concerned about the liklihood of over-eating on a cruise ship, I went ahead and skipped breakfast altogether on the morning of Tuesday, February 8, 2011. The ship was beginning the process of docking in Key West, Florida that morning as I woke up, and by the time Mom & Bob went to eat and I got up and ready, it was time to de-board for our first land stop of the voyage. I hadn’t been to Key West since 1996 – at which time I saw virtually nothing, so there were several things on my checklist that I wanted to check out during the short duration that we would be here. Saturday Night at Disneyland

Saturday, March 12th, 2011

Readers of this website might get the impression that I enjoy visiting the Disney parks. And of course, they would be right. So naturally I grabbed yet another opportunity to hang out at both Disneyland and California Adventure following my visit to the Hollywood Show in Burbank on Saturday, February 12, 2011. We had made a relatively brief visit the night before, so this brush with Disneyland represented the first time ever that I visited the park on two consecutive days. Read the rest of this entry »
