Gee Wally, Why’d It Take Two Decades?

tony5One benefit of reading this website is that you get to witness history in the making. Last year I displayed my collection of Leave It To Beaver cast autographs up to that point, which can be seen here. At that time I lamented that I had been unsuccessful at obtaining the signature of Tony Dow, the actor who played Wally in the series. Toyland, Toyland

vf19The culmination of the fifth intenational Sons of the Desert convention in Valley Forge (actually King of Prussia), Pennsylvania came on the evening of Tuesday, July 29, 1986. This final banquet was quite a memorable one as it involved not only a recreation of Toyland from the 1934 Laurel and Hardy film Babes in Toyland, but featured celebrities from the original film itself! Disneyland ’08

dis19Any day at one of the Disney parks is bound to be a good one and my visit to Disneyland on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 was no exception. Trying to shed the bad memory of the night before when I missed meeting David Garrison at the Pantages Theatre, I dove headlong into another great day with my friends at the Happiest Place on Earth. Tony Curtis is a legendary actor who has met with varying degrees of success over the duration of more than fifty years in the business. At the top of his game, he was in such classics as The Defiant Ones (for which he was nominated for an Academy Award), Some Like It Hot, Spartacus, and The Great Race. During the 70’s and 80’s he was in lesser-known roles such as The Bad News Bears Go to Japan, the remake of Little Miss Marker, and The Last Tycoon with Robert De Niro. Read the rest of this entry »

CHRISTMAS 21 -1991

s25The big news in my life around the start of the Christmas 1991 season was the supposed ABR job that my ‘friend’ Keith was getting me. At the thought of beginning this professional work, I got my first major haircut right around the season and shed the long flowing mullet in favor of a much more subdued and reserved mullet.
