The Wrestling Invasion

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

wres1You may be surprised to learn that someone of my supposed intelligence has on at least two time periods of my life, been sucked into the rough and tumble soap opera that is big time championship wrestling. My first go-around with the sport was back in the early 1980’s (from about 1982-84) when Georgia Championship Wrestling reigned supreme of the Superstation TBS. I watched it religiously, bought the magazines, and even went to some of the live matches. Read the rest of this entry »

Myrtle Beach 2009

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

hb21Saturday, July 25, 2009, came up pretty quickly. After all I had only been home for a total of five days from California when it was already time to leave again for my last week-long vacation of 2009. The week in between was maddening as I struggled to both catch up and get ahead at work and home. James K. Polk and Me

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

polk1It might surprise you to know that our country’s 11th President, who served from 1845-1849, consistently ranks as being in the top dozen of our most effective Presidents. Well Aware in Delaware

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

bd25We were starting to close in on nightfall on the evening of Sunday, June 14, 2009, as Bob and I crossed over the Delaware border during our week long road trip. This was my first time in our nation’s very first state (and second smallest) in the union. There were no Presidents from here, no Hard Rock Cafes, no ballparks, and no old long-lost friends for me to meet up with…but there was a State Capitol and that was where we were headed. However we made a couple of quick stops that night before we arrived at our final destination in Dover. Read the rest of this entry »

A Very Greg Encounter

Saturday, August 15th, 2009

gregbradyEarlier this year, I had the unique opportunity to meet three of the cast member kids (plus Cousin Oliver) from one of my favorite campy sitcoms The Brady Bunch. Little did I know that just a few months later, all of these same Brady actors plus an additional one would be appearing at the (newly christened) Hollywood Show in Burbank on Saturday, July 18, 2009. That additional one was Barry Williams who portrayed elder brother, ultra-hip, really groovy and happening-in-a-far-out-way Greg Brady. Read the rest of this entry »
