On the Streets of Philadelphia – Part One
Sunday, September 27th, 2009Bob and I had made our way from Atlantic City to Philadelphia, which was about 90 minutes away. We arrived at about 11:40am on the morning of Tuesday, June 16, 2009. We parked the car at the Independence Visitors Center parking garage and set out on a very long and tiring day’s adventures on foot. In fact, we saw so much in Philadelphia, which in essence was where the United States was born, that I am breaking this location into two separate postings. My final destination would be Mom’s house, where we were celebrating my nephew Adam’s third birthday. On the way, I stopped off at Toys ‘R’ Us to pick up his giant Hot Wheel Parking Garage and a Winnie the Pooh puzzle. I also made a brief stop at the Beavercreek Popcorn Festival. I didn’t have time to walk around much, but I met up with Heidi for about a half-hour to see her kids jump around inside one of those things kids jump around in. Read the rest of this entry »
Poltergeist Kid
Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009Oliver Robins had only a brief film career, but did manage to star in one of the most popular and influential horror films of the 1980’s. In the scare-a-thon flick Poltergeist, Oliver held the role of Robbie Freling, older brother to Carol Ann (Heather O’Rourke) and younger brother of Dana (Dominique Dunne). Ironically, he is the only child actor from the film who survives today, having managed (so far) to escape the Poltergeist curse that supposedly took the lives of O’Rourke and Dunne.
