Mildred’s Autograph Book – Part 2

What follows is the second dozen signatures that can be found in the autograph book that belonged to Our Gang member Mildred Kornman (seen at right) when she was a child (began here). This middle portion is the least exciting to me, although there are a couple gems mixed in there. Only the first two signatures here had a film actually noted in the book. The rest of the signatures are subject to my speculation as to what film’s set they were signed on (if they were in fact signed on a movie set at all) – based on films being made at the time that starred these particular actors. I had fully intended to pick up a signed photo of Greg Evigan at the Hollywood Show in Burbank on July 18, 2009. I was probably going to get a picture from B.J. and the Bear – as that was surely his most notable role to the general public in the late 1970’s even if I had never seen an episode. Among his many television appearances, I was most drawn to the sitcom My Two Dads. But not because of him. The fact is that the daughter of the two dads (the other played by Paul Reiser) was smoking hot – even if she was four years my junior. 
Although she was not a particularly prodigious actress due to the fact that she preferred to spend plenty of time with her husband, Eva Marie Saint had quite a few notable film and television roles over the last 60 years. In fact, she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in her feature film debut in On the Waterfront. Her various roles can be traced through the decade in such films as A Hatful of Rain, Loving, Nothing in Common, and Superman Returns. On TV, she might be seen in Suspense, The Love Boat, Frasier, and a recurring role on Moonlighting. 
All through the Summer of 1974, my parents had been working on a couple of projects in our back yard. The first was a barn to store our lawnmowers, garden tools, and other items that wouldn’t fit in our (then) single-car garage. He enlisted the aid of his cousin Irene’s husband Virgil Davidson to assist in the construction, with my Uncle Ed helping to put in the flooring. Dad an Virgil worked on this during the day before heading off to work at Brown and Kroger in the evening. No telling how much assistance I lent to the project. When it was done, we had a nice looking white barn that still sits on the property today. 
Although she tried out for the role of Princess Leia, Cindy Williams’ fate was cast to not be known for Star Wars, but rather as Shirley Feeney in the popular sitcom Laverne & Shirley. This show was of course a spin-off from the classic Happy Days, in which she played the same role alongside Penny Marshall’s Laverne. I’d have to say that my interest in Cindy Williams however was her role in one of my favorite films American Graffiti. Even if she is annoying when she eats french fries in it.
